My friend and I both opted for the Cafe's special salad - a wealth of lovely fresh ingredients, with crumbled, crunch Clonakilty black pudding done to perfection. It was all so tasty, and accompanied by fresh homebred bread. It was a rainy day, but we sat at a window overlooking the Shannon. Service was very friendly and considerate.

Tuesday in Shannonbridge, the only place that was open to visitors. After spending an hour or so wandering about this little village, we fancied some lunch. Headed to River Cafe. The carpark was very busy, but we were delighted to get a table inside. The gentleman & young ladies were extremely friendly and happy to help us in any way. Our food was lovely, no complaints, the feta salad was quite delicious. Leisurely lunch had by all, thank you. I bought a few gifts from the little shop. Pleasant experience. I must mention though that, we availed of the toilet facilities upon leaving and was quite disappointed that there were no hand towels and it was a little unsavoury, a bit of a let down. More attention to detail is advised in this department.

Absolutely fantastic. Total 5 out of 5 experience. On arrival on a beautiful sunny day we were offered a table right on the shannon. The waitress was really friendly and explained the menu to us. The service was prompt and the food was excellent. This cafe is set in an old fort which you are free to check out upstairs is a small museum which give the history of the Fort which was renovated by the owner and he took time explain some the things to us. There is inside seating downstairs and a gift shop. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area. We were staying in athlone which is about 25 min drive, well worth the journey.

Ate there around 4pm on a sunny week day. We took a table outside and after 15 minutes of a wait had to go in to order . The two girls inside were very pleasant and once ordered the food arrived fairly quickly. Food was average chicken goojons were burnt in places and the cod was something I could have got from my own freezer.
Everything on the plate was eaten but we were all very hungry on arriving there.
Bill had to be paid before we got our food which I thought was odd and maybe that was the reason nobody bothered to come to our table after the food was served to see did we want anything else.
Far nicer places to eat nearby I wouldn’t bother unless everything else was closed.

Visited Tuesday 2nd July with friends. From arriving to departure this was a most enjoyable visit. There were 3 of us. We had lunch two of us had fish cakes the third the black pudding salad. Drinks include 2 wines a sparkling water a tea and a coffee. €60 in total which we found reasonable. Katie our server was charm and efficiency itself as we're all of the staff we met. There are beautiful views across the Shannon River with seating outside.

We had a super lunch here at the start of our week on the Shannon. On a cold and rainy day, the food was excellent and the welcome warm. Very good menu and service here - a really well run restaurant with lots of seating inside and out. Highly recommend.

The staff were amazing, food and service was spot on, we had an amazing server katie, here mother,the owner of the cafe was amazing when we spoke with her, she gave us great ideas of where to go for dinner andboptions on our journey on the boat, I'll definitely be back.

I was early for an appointment in the village and decided to drop in for coffee and treat myself to a slice of cake. Apart from a couple with a young baby the cafe was empty, which really should have been a clue that I was about to be disappointed. The waitress was surly and took ages to make me a latte and bring it to the table with a slice of carrot cake that looked really tasty. The coffee was extremely strong and far too hot, and although the cake looked great it tasted like cardboard, even the little pot of cream that came with it didn’t soften it. I left the cake on the plate after 2 mouthfuls and only drank about a quarter of my coffee. When I asked for the bill the waitress didn’t even seem to notice how little I’d eaten. I grudgingly paid the bill but will never eat here again

We sat outside comfortably on colorful picnic benches directly on the Shannon. Everyone should find something on the map. We had quiche, wrap and salad. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Price was also ok.
