Our second visit and once again a great lunch time experience. We each tried something different - risotto, malfatti and sea bream - and all were beautifully cooked, presented and served. In an area packed with great places to eat The Chequers is up there with the best

Popped in for drinks and bar snacks and had a sausage roll and Welsh rarebit x portions were skimpy albeit the best sausage roll I have ever eaten! Not a great idea to appear grabby and cutting costs unnecessarily especially as we all know what the margin is on food?! I'm not averse to paying £100 for a good meal... More

We as a family ate lunch here recently on a Saturday afternoon. Kids meals were fine if a little small. Wife ordered Cajun chicken which was very dry, however the worst of the meals was mine. I ordered the liver and it came out raw. I put my knife into it and blood literally squirted across the table and also... More

Bit of a disappointment after being to the wheatsheaf. Cheese soufflé ok but not as good as the wheatsheaf, service patchy, 20 mins and two requests for drinks. Roast was good. Seating a bit cramped with two big tables taking up a lot of space.

Loved this place. But it's nearly lost its mojo. Come on guys keep on it! Mainly slow service. Food nearly as good as it was. Still much better than Soho Farmhouse.

Great welcome, love the decor, nice atmosphere, interesting menu with lots of choice...however my liver was thick, poorly cooked, hard on the outside and spongy inside, lacked flavour and seasoning Would go again and try something else next time

Visited the chequers for Mother's Day. We have never found a pub or restaurant pub where good quality food and high standards prevail, now we have. The family had a traditional Sunday lunch prepared to perfection, food and vegetables were fresh, hot and as good as a Sunday lunch at home. Bar and restaurant staff were professional, warm, efficient and... More

I love this place. Great atmosphere, clientele are the hipsters and those of class. The décor is shabby chic with Cotswold charm and rural living - stuffed deer heads, shooting magazines, shabby chesterfields. The bar stocks everything and the service and staff are as if out of London - not like a local parochial pub. Food is good but its... More

Went here with a party of 10 for Sunday lunch having increased the booking from 8 to 10 the night before. We were 15 minutes late getting there but the table had been held and the welcome and service was very good. We had several different meals across the party and the food all arrived at the same time and... More

In the picture perfect village of Churchill, The Chequers is everything a traditional pub should be with its pretty Cotswold stone exterior and a muddy landrover outside. Except, step inside this pub and you'll find something much more intriguing. A heady mix of the old and new. Expect modern cocktails to sit alongside local ales, and a menu that is packed with seasonally inspired dishes.Enjoy locally brewed beer propped at our bar with friends and family, or rustic dishes in our restaurant using the very best British ingredients in some well-loved classics like our Twice Baked Cheddar Soufflé, Bobby Battered Market Fish and our unmissable steaks cooked to perfection in Josper ovens.
