You go up a flight of cobbled steps in this beautifully preserved little town centre to reach Nany's place: some 30 seats, a smattering of vintage deco...

We were there with a table of 3 and were prepared for a nice evening based also on Tripadvisor recensions. We started with some amuse bouches, which was friendly however an espuma of sweet potatoe had the fat taste of whipped cream, and no hint...of sweet potatoe whatsoever. The egg en cocotte with cheese, was plain horrible. It was over sweet, because of either grainy honey or sugar, we couldn't say the difference. Dish with morrels was very generous and good. We had again an espuma, which lacked taste. The main of trout was really too small for the money and as as main. The cheese trolley was really good. But then a very weird scenario. We asked for an Italian deca coffee. They have decaf coffee, and they have amaretto. However they refused to put it in one glass, neither to give it to us separetaly since the quality of the amareto was only for cocktails??? Ehhh... Italian deca is coffee mixed with amaretto.. so what is the point? Anyways, I have seen the reviews and the photo's on social media. These didn't look nowhere near the food we had. We don't recommend this restaurant at all, but based on our visit onlyMore

Whether alone or in company, this is a wonderful little restaurant. It's always nice to be properly welcomed as is certainly the case here. Had a lovely bisque followed by a great fish dish. For my like, both dishes could have used a tad more...salt, but that is a personal preference of course. Would recommend and hope to be able to return next year.More

Went there attracted by the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. And they were right. Nice hosts, greeted by Nany herself, explaining she would cook for us. And she cooks really well. Had a very good 3 course dinner, preceded by two fine hors d’oeuvres. Will go...again shortly.More

We ate here both nights of our stay in the area and were well looked after. The Areche plate and the cheese board are fantastic. My wife loved the trout. We are happy to recommend this eatablishment.

We were recommended this restaurant by our tour guides and were not disappointed. The food is good, but the atmosphere is wonderful and what really makes this place special. It's a small family run restaurant in the old part of Joyeuse. Booking in advance is...recommended. They have a small menu (3 or 4 options for each course). There is no separate children's menu, but for kids they do half portions of the adults menu, a drink and ice cream for dessert. We were given delicious free amuse-bouche to start, had 2 kids mains, 2 adults mains, a shared dessert for the adults, ice creams for the kids, a bottle of wine and 2 cokes. It came to 67 Euros before the tip. It really didn't seem enough!More

Recommended by others this turned out to be a great find. In the old, upper town of Joyeuse, (no parking close ) this lovely little restaurant has great charm and excellent local produce to add to the creative ideas of Nany herself. Lucky to get a table as was market day and town was busy. Had lovely meal. Service was very attentive. Seemed to be a family concern. Take care the salad with cold meats - its a lot of cold meat, pate and caillette. Had cold...cucumber soup for starter - delicious and beef for main. Lots of interesting and delicious morsels to accompany the beef.More

This place has been renovated to look like a family style restaurant, and is situated in the village of Joyeuse which has preserved its medieval look, feel, and warmth. It is also adjacent to a mini market where you can buy local products from food...to handcrafted articles. Contact this restaurant and ask about their daily specials; they do offer menus that vary from time to time. Whenever we went there, they always had very good, well balanced meals with appetizers, salads, main courses, and dessert. The price is between $15-$30, depending on whether it's lunch or dinnertime, or their regular or extended menu.More
