we ordered our meals online. I wanted a change to my choice and we even rang to find out how to do it. Surely the girl in your shop should of taken a note of the alteration when the order came through. But she never...just said we could do it online. We put a note at the bottom of the order explaining the changes i wanted. We sent it through. When the food arrived mine was completely wrong as you had sent me a burger with everything on it. Not what i ordered. It seems to me that you take our order and money but dont look at any changes people may have and you send what you want. In my eyes this is a vety poor way of working and i certainly will never be ordering from you again.More

I don't usually write reviews, but after trying Portu Gallo's a number of times, I felt I had to. As per my review title, they very much hold the monopoly within the area (along with Lakeside Fish & Chips and Budgens), as anyone familiar with...Wixams will know, there isn't very much around, and I believe Portu Gallo's grasped at this opportunity, ramping prices up wherever they could to bump their profits. I'm not against paying higher prices for food that warrants it, but I believe the product they're sell isn't worthy of the price tag. Over the past year or so, I have made multiple takeaway (for collection) orders. Almost every time I am presented with something that shocks me, if it's not the unprofessional manner of the team member on the phone, it's the lack of preparedness. On various occasions I have been told that they'll be over an hours wait for a collection order consisting of only half a Peri Peri Chicken, as they "haven't got any on at the moment" - usually this wouldn't bother me, but as Portu Gallo's main offering is chicken based meals, you'd expect that would have at least something on during primetime dinner hours on a Friday evening. I understand that meals are made fresh, but as any business owner will tell you, there has to be a level of readiness especially when your menu consists of only 4/5 main items. On other occasions, I have been told to hang up, and call back later as they're "very busy with other orders". Can you not take my order anyway, and let me know a rough time as too when it would be ready, like all other takeaway restaurants? Overall, over priced and unprofessional. When confronting the manager with any issues, get ready for the line "This isn't Nandos", but to be honest, you'll be left wishing it was.More

I ordered a meal from Portu Gallo's yesterday evening as a surprise for my husbands birthday. What an amazing experience!! I ordered by phone with a lovely friendly member of staff .She helped me to make a good choice ,a chicken platter for 2 with...fries,mixed salad and coleslaw. It was delivered by a very friendly guy,keeping social distancing . The food was tasty and warm and more than we could eat!! So we have plenty leftover to have today.. If you can't go out for a meal during this Lockdown,I would happily advise you to pick up the phone and order a great meal ,delivered to your door. Our second visit, having previously visited for lunch. This time we took our adults sons both of whom have insatiable appetites and good taste. Thumbs up from all. The chicken wings were hot hot and succulent. The peri peri chicken meal is excellent value, the...chicken wasn’t as hot at the wings, but half a chicken that hot would have been a challenge. The full rack of pork ribs was enormous, unless you are a Desperate Dan type, you might want to either have a half rack or swerve the sides. That said nothing to send back from our table, I took a Desperate Dan! Corn on the cob nicely charred, brilliant chips, good salad but the coleslaw is obviously not home made and was a bit sweet with a ‘thin dressing’, Next time I will choose a different side. Lovely staff, the owners are delightful. We love the Super Bock Stout. A great inexpensive cafe style dining experience. In the daytime or on a summer evening build in some time for a walk round the lake.More

Great food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Easy parking close nearby. Seems to be very popular for takeaway food as well. This isn’t a quiet, dimly lit, romantic establishment - it is in fact just like a typical family café/ restaurant place you’d find in...Portugal and if you’re missing the food and ambience, here it is. Good servings, a lovely caipirinha and genuine Super Bock and Sagres bottled beer. Pastel de nata - yummy.More

The menu isn't over the top fancy but you can guarantee a freshly cooked meal with good size portions at a great price. The service was polite and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Will defiantly dine here again.

Cute little place, fitted out to a high standard. Tasty, freshly grilled peri peri and friendly staff. A refreshing change from the usual common-or-garden coffee shop format.

Lovely fresh food, cooked over coals. The cooking visable to customers. Best to book a table on the weekend as the restaurant is small. Also busy with take away order. I have eaten in the restaurant and had take away, very happy with both.
