We stopped there for a lunch with friends. At first staff was prompt and obliging. We ordered some limonade with coke for drinking. Dishes were super dirty and as bonus we had to ask the staff to change the jar cause there were some kind...of mold or something… after like 10minutes our request was fullfilt. Some of us ordered soups - chicken broth was cold, tripe soup needed some salt. And the cutlery had some leftovers on them. Positive was they brought the soups really fast. On the other hand we were wating for the main course like half an hour. Fried cheese was average, potato fries were cold, potato dumplings were without potato and černohor schnitzel was average aswell. Conclusion, we would rather be hungry and staff looked like we are bothering them.More

Stopped here for a dinner two weeks ago. The restaurant is a original slovak wooden cabin. Looks really nice. They have even a mini zoo for the kids there. The staff was kind. We ordered 3 soups and 3 main courses. We liked the soups,...but the main courses were way too fatty. Do not order grilled chicken beast with grilled vegetables there. They call potatoes vegetables and a small piece of "dried" breast a grilled chicken. Just terrible. The černohorský rezeň (fried pork in a potato batter) was too fatty and came with too much batter around.More

Set in a traditional wooden restaurant (Koliba), certainly brings you into the feeling of Slovakia and more importantly Slovakian Cuisine, traditional meals in a great setting. A very wide choice of dishes on the menu, I went for a potato style pancake stuffed with different...meats and peppers, all bathed in a paprika sauce (very rich) and topped with cheese.....more than enough for me (would have suited two people), my partner went for Svicokovica which again was a huge portion and served with a whole knedla (dumpling)....this and 2 drinks (1 beer and 1 Kofola) came to a very reasonable 18.99 euros. Even though the restaurant was going to close in 45 minutes the staff welcomed us in and were very fast and attentive, they even let us settle our bill mid meal so that we had more time to enjoy our meal together. I would recommend this restaurant with no doubts.......simply excellent.More

We went there 3 times during our stay and enjoyed it a lot! We took twice a dish for two, called something like "tri grose" (see on the picture) which was amazing, it's a composition of meats (beef, chicken, pork) with rice, potatoes, and little..."cakes" made of potatoes, with some salads on the side. The third time, we ate separate dishes (I took chicken and dumplings, and my boyfriend took some sort of sausage with potatoes). It was still good, but not as good as the tri grose! Furthermore, the atmosphere in this restaurant is really nice, there is a fireplace, traditionnal Slovakian music, and the servers are wearing traditionnal Slovakian clothes. You cannot refuse a dinner at this place, especially when you see the prices! (we ate a whole dinner for two + drinks for less than 25€ each time)More

We had a variety of very good local soups and some nice strapacky and veal stew here. The place is nice and friendly, English menu is available, but the staff didn't speak almost any English. There is a small bakery with good looking local products...attached to the restaurant. A good place to stop for a meal on the road.More

This restaurant is located near Banska Bystrica on the road to Brezno. The location is traditional and nice, with original open fire place and traditional slovak food. The staff was friendly but with full restaurant bit slow, we waited for menu at least 5 to...10 minutes and guys which came after us, got menu and were served before us. Soups were good but would prefer a larger portion. The most traditional food are dumplings with sheep cheese - bryndza, but this one was below average :( dumplings were ok, but bryndza was not. Prices for food are well above averega for this region so price-food quality is unfortunatelly a problem here :( If nothing changes wouldnt recommend to visit...More

Once called Rusticana, now got a much better name "Koliba u Starej matere". The interior and all the surroundings is really nice, our waitress was very nice and the food very delicious! The portions are quite big so watch out for it! We had garlic,...bean and chicken broth soups, sweet main dish for kids and goat meat and everything was really yummy! When leaving (or entering) make yourself a nice treat and buy some home made cakes in the room close to the entrance. You won´t resist the perfect bakery smell there! The restaurant includes also a small room for kids to play.More

We got there on Friday lunch time. Nobody in parking, nobody inside, strange. We started to afraid that something is wrong but finally it was fine. Soup and "halusky" were very good. Koliba is nice from outside and inside, has outside children playground and own...bakery. Only problem was spoiled nonalcoholic draft beer.More
