Thank you very much for that - look forward to seeing you soon.
Waited an hour to be served a plate of toast and paté - the toast was cold and had mould growing on it !!! We didn't dare try the paté. Response of the owner had to be seen to be believed. Extremely rude. A great...More
More lies and half truths here. Yes, hands up, we did make a mistake with the toast as you can see in the photograph (how sad!!). I apologised and made a full refund. BUT it wasn't just pate and toast it was 3 meals 2...More
Food not great, chips were frozen and not cooked properly! I never complain, but thought I should tell them this,as people paying for food want to enjoy it, and would expect that cooking frozen chips properly wasn't difficult! I discretly had a word with lady...More
'I never complain' - well you complained in the restaurant and here you are complaining in the public domain and its your first review and its a complaint, but that's why Tripadvisor is here!! FYI we don't cook frozen chips and having checked with the...More
We normally go here for a Sunday roast, especially when the in-laws are visiting. The food is good, though I find the gravy too salty. If they did a different gravy it would be perfect as the meat and veg is spot on.
This was our first visit to the Boat; I had booked via email in advance the day before and was pleased to have an answer straight away. We arrived on a busy Easter Sunday to a packed pub and a table rammed in a corner,...More
Many thanks for that - sorry about the chef he's usually quite chirpy you must have caught him on a bad day. Bring your doggy next time.

Many thanks come and see us again soon!!
After reading the reviews listed here I wasn't sure if we had visited the same place. We moored up in Thrupp after a long cold wet day navigating the canal. We decided to have a meal in the pub. It was quiet and we appeared...More
Yeah Tripadvisor can give that impression. Many thanks for your kind words come and see us again next time you're coming passed.
Located just across a village lane from the Oxford canal this small quaint old inn was used in some of the filming of the Inspector Morse TV series and the whole place is decorated with photos and mementos from those times. The restaurant area is...More
Many thanks for that hope to see you again soon.
Visited this pub early on a Wednesday evening. There were only a few people there but the full menu was available. We had what was described as a Giant Grimsby Cod in Golden Batter. When it came the fish was more like a minnow but...More
Despite all this he ate it all!! Naturally I spoke to the staff working that night, they followed the normal procedure food was served and asked if ok - did they need any sauces etc and all was good. Three minutes later back to the...More
Avoid if you are looking for a relaxed and easy going meal!!!! Still, giving it a 3 as the food was gorgeous and the place really a lovely location. Shame about the attitude that we encountered on what should have be a happy lunch; 12.15pm...More
Not sufficient to make a scene in the restaurant and write on our Facebook page her she is on TripAdvisor!! Mother’s Day the busiest day of the year for restaurants all over the country. We do sittings; they booked for 12.00pm (sic) that gives them...More
