Just arrived home after a lovely evening, We booked in for 6pm myself my husband and are 3 year old and there were two young servers who explained how the fish was cooked when I asked, while waiting on dinner had the soup of the day, which was veg, was really good im not a big salt lovely so personally thought seasoning was to my taste, although would of maybe loved some cracked black pepper but with covid I get the restrictions, The main course we waited a while, but to be honest I didn’t mind I get that it was all cook to order and I was brought up that good food you have to wait, so as table by table got served I knew ours was coming, I was not disappointed good wholesome food, not dressed got to taste the flavours was just what I needed, our son wanted ice cream for dessert with chocolate sticks and they didn’t disappoint him, Only complaint I can have is with the young staff I would of loved to automatically have water left on table and the fact we can’t go to a bar to order drinks I would of loved to been asked if I wanted another one rather than get someone’s attention. Over all a 4 out of 5 for me. Will be back next time I’m in the area. Well done Mary and nice to meet you,

We had an excellent fish dinner here as part of a trip to Wexford. I had a huge and delicious grilled hake and my partner had the monkfish scampi, also delicious. We also ate mussels and their home-made chicken liver pate, all was delicious and perfect. The Covid protocols were seriously followed by staff and customers, it was really nice to see that - whilst still having a fun and driendly atmosphere. I cannot recomment it more! It was a great meal! Thanks!

If you enjoy seafood you won't want to miss this place when in the area. We enjoyed prawns and fresh haddock, fresh and beautifully cooked. Simple menu but delicious. Children catered for with the usuals. A small beer garden if you're lucky enough to get the sun to shine!

Ate there recently as a family, and we had a very forgettable experience. First the positives: clean restaurant, and decent starters. Now the negatives: they serve mussels as a starter and they don't tell you it comes with bacon all over it. Now I know quite few people who would be quite offended to get bacon when they asked seafood, either because of religion, either because of taste: you better specify you serve it with bacon. I asked for a rare steak, it came blue. So I've sent it back, no excuse from the waiter, and he came few minutes after with my steak cooked again. But never once he came to ask if I was happy with this new cooking (I wasn't totally). Hake we ordered was really tasteless, no salt or pepper added, you expect flavor for the price they are charging. And lastly, the waiters: waiters are young, unexperienced, cold, and couldn't care less about the clients. They just do the minimum, never they come to ask if eveything ok, and never they check on you once I told them I'm unhappy. Anyway, not a great food experience, and service very poor, along with the overall atmosphere (or lack of it). To avoid!

Meal order was taken swiftly and food delivered quickly.Handed each a shabby serviette with a knife and fork and and a grim metal basket with lovely bread. However we were puzzled why we were given no side plates to butter bread etc.Napkins are wafer thin you get better quality from some of the chippers close by. Considering prices they charge for the food at least then give a cloth napkin. Staff all huddled together chatting behind bar.Very unprofessional looking.Considering it has recently reopened the place looked shabby, dark and dreary. Coving on ceiling had marks and cobwebs. We were throughly disappointed with the customer service and interior.Come on guys look at The Strand in the nearby village of Duncannon..it puts you to shame.

We visited The Hollow as part of our week Staycation in Co.Wexford. Delicious Fresh Fish, cooked to perfection. As a family of 5 (3 teenagers) we ordered the Monkfish Scampi Starter, Pate & Brie; with Lemon Sole, Black Sole and Chicken Curry Main courses...all fantastic and so fresh. Kids had the treat of sharing a massive Strawberry Meringue Nests for dessert...wow factor. Don't hesitate in booking The Hollow ...it was fab! Mark our waiter was very efficient and looked after us very well. Thank you.

We had a family meal in this restaurant during August. The fish was of excellent quality and the portions were very generous. There the quality theme ends. Everything comes with chips or chips or chips... and a few lettuce leaves given the title of side salad. No veg whatsoever available. You couldn't even get potatoes. A bit of choice and quality to go along with the fish is badly needed. This is a restaurant, not a chipper! The second issue was the service. The staff really seemed to be struggling. Having waited well over half an hour in the bar for a table in the main restaurant area (which is quite nicely decorated), we were told our table was not ready because the people using it hadnt finished their meal and so, we would be getting our meal in the bar. We were not asked, no "we are very sorry, would you mind..." . We were told. When we questioned the barman, he told us that your booking gets you a table with no guarantee it will be in the restaurant. You can take it or leave it. Lovely service.....wont be going back.

Lovely warm welcome from the staff at this family-run restaurant! The interior was beautifully festooned with hearts and all things Valentine. We enjoyed a lovely early evening, freshly-prepared fish supper and all very reasonably-priced too. Highly recommended!

We visited as a group of four in August for an 8 o'clock sitting. There were insufficient staff available to cater for, I'd guess, at least 20 hungry diners all sitting down to table at the same time. Drinks came promptly enough but it was fully 45 minutes before our starters arrived. They were adequate. We were taken aback when ordering that the only accompaniment for the fish was "chips and salad" - Not so much as a spud and no veg! As the evening wore on, the beers and wine long gone, our repeated requests for water were acknowledged, but ignored. A fourth request was delivered with such bad grace that we were wondering what we had done wrong. At no stage did the maitre'd, who had no problem chatting to customers she knew, approach our table. Mains arrived about 9.30, an hour and a half after sitting down! The fish looked excellent but, fine big fillet that it was, it had been cooked in one piece and was broken in serving, rather than having been cut. Not only that, while it looked to have been perfectly cooked, it actually tasted burnt. We concluded that it had been cooked on a burnt pan - a shame really. We concluded that there could NOT have been a professionally trained chef on duty that night. A pity, in a place where we had previously enjoyed some excellent meals.

We rented a small cottage near New Ross, Wexford for the month of April, and in looking for places to dine out, away from the actual town, we stumbled upon The Hollow, in Ramsgrange. After calling and speaking on phone with Simon we made a reservation and dropped over for our first visit. We were greeted warmly by a young server, and shown to our table. The restaurant is quiet and clean, and has a cheerful atmosphere. There is an attached pub/bar, which is more my dining style, but since the pandemic I gravitate toward quieter spaces. It was early evening, just 5pm when we arrived, and pretty much before Irish people tend to dine, as we've found. It was just chilly enough outside that the fire was going, making the restaurant even more welcoming. The menu (on the chalkboard) has something to suit everyone. We decided to get the gorgeous Fried Brie starter, to share. It was accompanied by greens and a lovely current jelly. There was delicious and moist brown bread for the table, and I believe we ordered green salads, unaware that the side on our fish plates was also salad. For our mains we enjoyed monkfish and one of the other fishes, either Hake or Haddock, I think. Mine was in gougons. Both were pan fried, and perfectly prepared. I really can't say enough nice things about this. Both were delicious. The side was a bit lacking. I was hopeful for a multitude of vegetables which seems to be customary in many Irish restaurants. We certainly had enough to eat. We liked it so much that we came back again, had the Brie again, and I really enjoyed the scampi style prawns. I believe my friend also had scampi. We were greeted by Mary after we were done eating, and it was our great pleasure. Next trip to Wexford we will visit again! Thank you for two excellent dining experiences.

We booked dinner on the phone for 6.30 pm. We were late arriving, and at 6.50 pm, when we did arrive, the hostess told us that we had to eat in the the bar. That was okay-it is nicer than the dining room actually. The food was okay-not hot enough though. Out Eastern European waitress was excellent. However , at 8.05 pm, our hostess told us that she needed the table again at 8.15pm. We were not told this when booking, and we are used to chatting away for a while over the table after dinner. When I questioned all of this, she said that if we arrived after 7.30….we could stay as long as we liked. So beware this when booking . We probably won’t be back. Our friend, who runs a substantial air B&B nearby , won’t be recommending The Hollow either.

Even though The Hollow is out of the way, although on the main Wexford Road, it is worth travelling to. The food in The Hollow is cooked superbly, and that's coming from an ex-chef. There is something to suit all tastes on the menu. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. You never feel cramped even when the place is full.

I went to this restaurant last night and I was impressed. There was a big menu of plenty to choose from, although not a lot for vegetarians. It was mainly fish and meat, so I recommend only meat and fish eaters for this place. The interior of the restaurant is lovely. It’s nice and simple yet effective. Now for the food; The garlic prawns were really good and the starter of fried brie. The kids enjoyed their meal of chicken goujons and chips. It was a nice touch that everyone got their own individual ketchups. Overall it was a nice experience and I would go back again.

We had Sunday lunch for two here recently. Our starter was the fried hallumi salad which did not disappoint; indeed we were glad that we only shared one plate due to its size. Main courses consisted of breaded sole and haddock respectively. Both were cooked to perfection, retaining moisture and accompanied by vegetables and potatoes of choice. Dessert was strawberries and cream, large but light and shared. Can’t fault the food, service or ambiance. The food is not cheap and cheerful like in many similar establishments. Our experience confirmed that quality and quantity can be combined successfully and this restaurant has certainly achieved this goal. Recommended.

We visited this small but very friendly restaurant yesterday to meet up with some family. Very easy to find and has apple parking spaces. It is mostly a fish restaurant serving locally caught fish but there are other - if limited - dishes available. The service was great and very friendly. The food taste, quality and portion size was great. There is also a small but quaint bar next to the restaurant with outdoor seating available. We will definitely visit The Hollow again. It advisable to book in advance because there is limited space available and it can get very busy.
