One thing of note is that in Italy majority of pizzerias only serve pizza at dinner and not for lunch ( not sure why) but this place made it worthwhile going back to for the pizza. Family owned pizza is great plus have other menu items of pasta etc. price is beyond reasonable Family service like dining at home Great... More

We came here 4 times during our 2 week holiday. Cheap and cheerful but not without atmosphere, I think I may have had my best pizza ever here and the wild boar ragu was also great. The quality of ingredients in the antipasti is also high. The Proscuitto was so good and their special bread Danelle is really delicious. It's... More

We make a point to visit this popular locals restaurant every time we visit the Montepulciano area. We recently stayed for 2 weeks and dined here 3 times. It's a casual simple place along the road but the food is consistently outstanding. Fresh salads, our favorite pizza in all of Italy, outstanding pasta (Pici) and we also tried the sliced... More

We have been lucky enough to eat here many times over the years, it's not flash or plush but the locals eat here, that says it all. The food is wonderful, true to its roots, respectful of the product and cooked to perfection. Daniel, the owner, speaks good English and is proud of the food his girlfriend produces in the... More

We came after the kitchen was closed (we didn’t know that the restaurants close in Italy 03:00 – 19:00 pm.), but the waiter was so nice, spoke good English. He explained us opening hours in Italy and suggested a cold cut instead of lunch. I was so thankful that he didn’t turn us away. The food was very tasty and... More

Unfortunately we ate there only once, as the restaurant was closed for few days. We went there on the suggestion of the owner of B&B where we stayed. The place was almost full for the lunch time and even if there was just one waiter we didn't wait too much. The food was excellent and the prices are reasonable. If... More

We first came upon this roadside restaurant many years ago and whenever we are in the Montepulciano area we always visit. Over the years it has changed hands with the latest owner being very friendly, speaks excellent English and even if you've made a reservation, will always try and fit you in, we've never been turned away. The food is... More

Excited about our first pizza in Italy, we asked a few locals for a pizzeria that will put all other pizzerias to shame. They all had similar responses: " La Botteghino: it is simple and easy but the pizza is good." And they didn't lie. The restaurant is large enough to seat half the town, the interior and outside seating... More

We came here one evening without a reservation and it was packed. The owner asked if we'd mind eating in the covered area which wasn't particularly nice and we agreed as we were hungry. We waited more than 45 minutes for our drinks to be served after ordering and well over an hour for our pizzas. Whilst the wait for... More

The owner/waiter speaks English very well, he is a friendly chap who likes to share a joke. For a smallish local establishment Al Botteghino has an impressive menu, they serve fabulous steaks, the Rabbit Ragu is amazing and the Pizza is terrific to. We have eaten there sitting on the veranda overlooking the valley several times and not been disappointed... More
