A good experience at this restaurant found by chance on our way to Bouillante. Attentive service from the waitress. Menu for 23 euros and a perfect children's menu. Price of drinks just as reasonable. I recommend coconut flan for dessert!

So far we had not been overtly impressed by the restaurants we visited in Guadeloupe until we came across this gem today. We had the menu for lunch. Usually when we ordered a lunch menu before, the portions were rather on the smaller side. Not so here: a typical starter followed by a huge grilled fish with rice and salad and as a desert either banana flambé or ice cream. The whole menu came to Euro 16 and it tasted superb. The service was very friendly and fast. Highly recommended!

Great Creole Food, Friendly Vibe

Situated on the ocean side of the main road just south of La Route Traversee, there are nice sea views to go with the prime quality Creole food — food that has an authentic vibe. We had the “special” for €16 each, consisting of Accras Morue as starters, goat stew/snapper as mains, and banana flambé for dessert, aflame with local rum. No WiFi, decent toilet. Good service. The place looks plain, but the food is not. Worth a special stop.

Always worth a visit

We know this place since years and come back every time when we are in Basse Terre (even when we are located in Grande Terre - the other side of the island). Quality is very good, service is nice, the cat very played back. We have been warmly welcomed after 2 years absence.

We pulled off the road into the Le Mambo parking lot while taking a tour along the leeward coast of Basse Terre. We were immediately greeted and made to feel welcome. Our French is rusty and Creole is non-existent, still, our hostess did her best to take our order and make sure we understood what we ordered. We tried the poulet columbo and the cabri columbo - slightly spicy Caribbean dishes featuring chicken and goat meat served with side, a mild rice and vegetable dish. Interesting and tasty. We lingered on the pleasant open porch and enjoyed a nice glass of Bordeaux - all good. The people were very friendly and the atmosphere was cheerful. Try this place.

Eight of us had a variety of seafood and other appetizers and meals, and all were excellent. Fried snappers and goat curries were among our favourite main dishes, and conch and crab cakes were favourite appetizers. We had to find the recipe for their Sauce Chien when we returned.

We had dinner here mostly because it was 10 minutes from our cottage and we're so glad we did. The menu is a short list of familiar creole dishes, accras and fish pie to start, blaff, colombo, and roast pork mains, but everything is carefully prepared and a delight to eat. The digiestif is an infusion of "cerise pays" in a juice jar, a serious invitation to excess. The service is friendly, fairly prompt (we had dinner in under 2 1/2 hours) and unfazed by our halting American accented French. A family at the next table had three children, no problem. The bill for dinner for three including three powerful little punches and a bottle of wine (which it turned out was more than we needed) was 85€, good value for an excellent meal.
