Enjoyed a brilliant Sunday lunch just before #Lockdown2! Had a nice table right in front of a roaring fire was nice and cosy. The roast was very good, shared a starter and a pudding both excellent. Some nice ales on tap as well. Will return...at some point in the future. Thanks!More
We would certainly use this pub again, food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Five of us ate but unfortunately we weren’t happy with one of the chicken based meals, the lady was extremely apologetic and we didn’t have to pay for that meal. She was...very gracious and took on board our complaint without any negative attitude.
The decor is very tasteful and the beautiful “proper” fire is very welcoming!! Will 100% return!!More
Visited on the strength of the TripAdvisor review and locals recommendation. Lovely atmosphere. Great service. Tasty beer. One of our meals was delicious (mince beef pie and mash) but unfortunately the Chicken Curry was a let down. The staff however took my feedback honourably and...explained it was a new dish that evening and refused to let me pay for it. We would go back again.More

Had 3 meals at The Duke all were great from starter to pud!! Beer also excellent and the barman lets you taste it first. Staff great and fully on the covid measures. We are back over in March can't wait 🍻👍
Had a delightful Sunday Lunch, party of 4 plus our 4 legged friend. Decor, service and food were fantastic. A gem of a find, gorgeous village pub with brilliant staff, they welcome dogs and their well behaved owners! we will definitely be back very soon.
This weekend I was pleasantly surprised when I attended the Duke of Cumberland restaurant. Despite my fears about the covid situation, upon arrival I was made to feel extremely safe and welcome.
My experience only got better as the night continued; the food was exquisite,...I had one of specials, a lovely cod dish. However, what made the evening so special was how welcome I was made to feel by the staff. Even though it was very busy on my Sunday visit the staff still took the time to be attentive to me and I left feeling like one of the family! A big thank you to Sophie, Jess and Pauline, will definitely be coming back!More
We passed the DOC on our way to our rented holiday cottage , the pub looked great and is in a lovely location.
We promised ourselves we would visit for a meal and we were not disappointed , the welcome from the staff was excellent..., the beer selection was extensive and the dogs welcomed even though we racked up 1 hour early .
The meals we had were great , the ambience of the pub was lovely and would certainly recommend a visit .More
