Popped in here last Thursday night, hadn't booked, but there were only two of us, and we were immediately seated in the Bistro upstairs. There was a mixed crowd, families, children , couples young and old and it had a nice buzz to it (this was around 7pm). Service was prompt and cheerful, we just ordered mains. He had chicken... Lovely meal and friendly staff. It was a cold day and a warm fire was welcome. Food was delicious. My husband had the brisket and I had the scampi

We visited The Plough on Friday night as a party of four for my birthday. We had a drink in the bar downstairs which was busy with a nice atmosphere. Our table was booked upstairs in the Bistro and we received excellent service throughout from three different members of staff. The food was outstanding! We would highly recommend the baked... More

Easter Sunday lunch with the family, two of whom are celiac. Menu for starters and main was good, with plenty of variety. I had the trio of fish, which was a selection of 3 white fish, white mash, cream hollandaise, on a white plate! It tasted lovely but looked a bit bland on the plate. Dessert wasn't great, especially when... More

I visit Northern Ireland 3 - 4 times a year, to participate in my hobby/interest. I stay near Hillsborough & have made dinner in The Plough an essential and regular part of my plans! The food is always excellent, good variety and more than generous servings. The staff are very friendly, helpful and service is excellent. The Bistro has a... More

Haven't been to The Plough for a while, we saw the Curry night was back in action but in the new Vintage Rooms. We love our Curries so this was exciting. It's a little scary how good it was, honestly couldn't fault the food. We went all out with the sharing starter & mains, the price is such good value.... More

Visited for Mothers Day, and with this inexplicably being the first time I had ever been given its a bit of an institution in these parts, I wasnt disappointed. Deceptively large establishment, and has lots of character. We were given a table overlooking the Queens residence and service was prompt throughtout. Food was excellent, well presented and with flavour. Will... More
