We are always looking forward to visit our favourite places on Crete, and Stella's place is certainly one of them! Makes you feel at home, combined with great local food that can easily compete with any 5* place over the world, especially when it comes...to her own creations: beef and her special seafood plate. Fantastic place to be, with a great family as hosts, and lovely sea view on top!More

When you are cycling in the mountains this is the perfect stop for coffee, water and ice cream. Located in the middle of the village and has a nice view of Rethymno and surroundings.

Staying near Rethymno always implies at least one visit to Stella and her family taverna. As always, we have not been disappointed. Best to ask for the daily recommendations and follow them - a real treat, every time. Go with their typical local wine to...round off the experience. This place also offers a nice view over the Cretan Sea, and the host will genuinely make you feel at home.More

In terms of total experience, this has to be one of the best you can have. The location, with views overlooking the sea and town of Retymnon, is amazing. The service is fantastic (the whole family works in the restaurant) and food is simple honest...local tasty food. We were 7 people and had both starters and main course. Dessert is on the house as well as the Raki. We never paid more than 80€ in total. If you're lucky you also get to meet their dog, Balou, the local mascot. Other locals sit under the olive tree outside on the little square. In the words of Guide Michelin, this place is worth a detour, even if you are not fortunate to stay in the local hilltop village. Just be careful driving up and down the serpentine roads.More

This place is close to the road and therefore hard to miss. Seating outside and inside with charming views of the hills and valleys and the sea as a distant backdrop. Food.. this is traditional Greek proper homemade food. Very good and at a fair...price. Service is excellent. We’ll definitely be back.More

Good tasty local fare. The mixed salad was great and portion size is generous. The Stifado was lovely as were the sardines I had on the return visit! Don't expect anything fancy and you won't be disappointed. Lots of locals eating and drinking here adds...to a really nice atmosphere and it won't hurt your pocket. Views over the twin and coast are fabulousMore

A lovely, friendly family taverna in the hills. We came here first night and kept coming back. The chicken dish of the day was amazing. Great wine, good ambience and Stella and Filio really looked after us and made us feel so welcome.

Staying in Rethymno, we had a tour on the hop on/hop off bus. Way out of town, we got off in a village called Roussospiti and decided to try this Taverna for lunch. The view over Crete was terrific, the food was great and all...locally sourced, the prices were very reasonable too. I had the meatballs and Tzatziki (which the owner, Stella, said I should try) and both were absolutely delicious ( but don't be surprised if you get hamburgers instead of meatballs as in Crete they're called meatballs ).More
