Still the best value in Alykanas

Still one of our favourite places to eat in Alykanas, breakfast, lunch, dinner all fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. We regularly had breakfast here during our recent holiday, for under €10 you get two small English breakfasts and tea/coffee. Staff always friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Never had a bad meal in 6 holidays.

Fab food, really big portions, really cheap. Excellent desserts too! Loads of food on a €2.80 pitta. My favourite place to eat. Hubby’s steak in blue cheese sauce was massive and only around €10. Cannot fault they place and staff were really clean and friendly. Hand sanitizer available and tables arranged for social distancing.

When you go past the restaurant it seems more like light bites and drinks but we saw some amazing food being brought out so had to go and try. We were a table of 7 and all of us had one of the best meals so far in Alykanas. They have a great menu with something for everything. I had a Bolognese, others included a olive and feta pasta dish, chicken skewers, hanging chicken skewers! Everyone said how tasty their meals were and portions were huge and was the cheapest meal so far we’ve had! Definitely worth a try and we will return. The waitress is also lovely and very accommodating.

Highly recommend for evening meal aswell as a snack

We visited in July 2020 with my girlfriend and her family. They were initially put off as the appearance is “fast food” however we were not disappointed when we visited. Big portions, lots of meat and at a great value really can not recommend enough! Also worth a visit for an afternoon snack!

Amazing crepes

We ate here several times during our recent holiday. From their pizza, lamb chops, chicken fillet, chicken gyros everything is cooked and presented to perfection, excellent value too. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The biggest treat for us was their crepes, so much selection & variety & cannot compare to any English crepe experience, delicious & massive for that holiday treat & indulgence.

Best restaurant on the island

Lovely staff , the food was so tasty we came back every morning and afternoon to eat there.the meals were reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food we revived. It also had the nicest bathroom I have ever been in . Everything about this place was perfect could not recommend it enough. Go and check it out !

I came to Zante, Alikanas on the 5 of June It is the first time I have been to of Alikanas. My first experience was Rua Mat restaurant. The ladies Magdalini , Voula and Katerina Have been like Earth Angels to me ( for I am here alone) Rua Mat have the most amazing food, value for money, They deliver , and they are open to 3am When everywhere else is closed. There service is 5 stars There food is 5 stars Also most of the expats come here I do not need to say anymore Enjoy your holiday

Amazing food!

We’re currently still on holiday in Zante however had to write a review on this place before I left, and forgot! Me and partner are currently away with his family and we had dinner on our own one night in this place. We did notice that it is slightly more expensive than the other restaurants, with a similar menu. When ordering, I fancied a plain boring, tomato and garlic pasta; there were pasta dishes on the menu but all had something else in with it and I just wanted tomato and garlic however the guy taking our order said it couldn’t be changed from what’s on the menu. It wasn’t a problem as I ordered a medium pizza (between options medium and large) and I’m so glad I ordered medium rather than large! My boyfriend ordered the Sirloin steak, and the waiter suggested ordering it medium, whereas he normally goes medium-rare but he went with medium. When i said about it been slightly more expensive than the other restaurants, there’s a good reason for it! The portion sizes were huge!! We were debating ordering a starter and it’s a good job we didn’t! My partners steak came with chips, a couple of roast potatoes, and veg And my ‘medium’ pizza was massive.. I ended up leaving 3 slices. I would definitely recommend this place! We’re going to go here for our last night too

Best Restaurant on Zakynthos

We ended up having dinner here for 6 out of the 7 nights we stayed and were sorry that we tried anywhere else! As a group of 7 people ranging in age from 12 to 45, with many different likes and dislikes, we all enjoyed every meal we had. We strongly recommend the calamari and the Gyros (please pay attention to their recommendations regarding portion sizes, they are HUGE!). The staff were all super helpful and friendly, despite our lack of Greek and general craziness. We will miss them and are already counting down the days until we can come back.

The best food in Alykanas and the nicest people!

I have visited Zante twice in the past month. I have stayed in Laganas during the second time and quickly left to return to Ammoudi area due to an appalling hotel and locality. When I went back to Ammoudi, I visted Alykanas beach several times and went back to Rua Mat for lunch, dinner and coffees. The food, service and atmosphere are just the best on the island. The manageress is so lovely and can’t do enough for you. The portions are MASSIVE (so only avoid if you’re on a diet!). The quality of the food is insane. It’s fresh, always perfectly cooked and so tasty. I highly recommend the giant gyros and the savoury pancakes. Just delish! I’ll be visiting here again! Make sure you do!

Have recently returned from a two holiday in Zante found this restaurant on our first night and proceeded to eat there for 12 out of the 14 nights. Food is lovely excellent presentation, great variety on the menu. We were a family of four and never ate the same meal twice. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is spotless, hopefully return in the near future

Great food, fantastic people

What a wonderful place! We were a group of 10 and all the food was great It is one of the few places where we could explore also elevated restaurant food, apart from the traditional Greek food omnipresent in all other restaurants. The chicken roll with the special sauce and the salad with the balsamic reduction was top. The Highlite was the most friendly service, going above and beyond to make it at the top of the restaurants we visited.

Above expectations every time

Never been let down by Rua Mat. Halloumi starter is the best I have ever had. Special burger with egg, Chicken wrapped in bacon souvlaki and Moussaka are all mains we have tried and loved. The service by Voula and the team is first class. Will always recommend to friends and family.

Not as good as the reviews say.

We ate here twice in August due to Facebook recommendations, and good trip advisor reviews. However, we were quite disappointed despite giving them 2 attempts. The food was 'ok' but not as good as the other restaurants in the area. The biggest let down was the service though. It took almost 30 minutes to place and receive our drinks order, and it wasn't even busy at time. When our food arrived, one of the dishes was incorrect but we didn't want to wait for another one to be prepared as we needed to be somewhere later on. Nobody came round to check that everything was ok and the staff looked like they wished they were elsewhere. When we had finished, nobody came to offer us dessert and nobody came with the bill. After waiting another 20 minutes I managed to get the attention of the waitress who said that they don't bring the bill to the table - you have to go to the cashier and pay! I've not seen that on holiday in a restaurant before. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place.

We visited for a late meal after a long long day swimming and walking. At a glance it looks a little basic but experience lets me know better. In we go. Absolute enthusiasm and friendliness of staff is always appreciated. Menus, table setting and drinks delivered with massive smiles and promptness. A little chitchat and laughs. Great choice of drinks, cocktails and wines and a menu catering for every taste. I had the pork chop with oven roast potatoes and veg. Massive chop grilled to perfection and served up on hanging rack (souvlaki style). What a surprise to see this. Sipping a couple of glasses of beautiful wine ( tasted like Villa Maria ) made the experience more enjoyable .Continued checks from staff to ensure everything was ok couldn’t be faulted. Honestly. If you ever get the chance to visit DO NOT WALK PAST. 10/10 for everything. Thank you team R M🫶
