We have been visiting this fantastic family run restaurant for 6 years. The food is beautiful home made traditional Cretan food. Everyone is made to feel welcome. The house wine is great. At the end of dinner big bowls of ice cream are offered as...well as the most delicious kumquat liqueur. Try the pork tenderloin. It’s gorgeous.More
We arrived at the restaurant with some high expectations, as we had read the somewhat astonishing reviews regarding the food and atmosphere prior to our visit. Concerning the atmosphere, we could not have asked for anything more. The restaurant lies on top of a hill,...with the approach being of not a high incline, which means you get a nice view over the sea and a quiet, noise-free meal.
The service was great as well. The waitress gave us complementary water and was quick to take our order. She checked up one us as well during our meal, which is a quality we love to see, as well as the price being not expensive, rather affordable.
Despite the vast majority of the food tasted above average, we found loose hair in one of our starters. It was close to ruining the whole culinary experience, luckily it did not. Unfortunately, this pulls the whole experience and rating down a couple of notches.
When possible, we would rate the experience at 3.5 out of 5, due to the not so lucky present in our starter. Maybe we just were unlucky, Atmosphere and service great, as explained.
Would recommend others to visit.More
We can't say enough times :Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Hrisa and Ms. Elefteria are two of the nicest people we met.
Not only they greeted us with wonderful smiles and big hugs but the food was cooked "with the heart",tasty home cooking...made with quality ingredients.
Efharisto Poli, Kira Elefteria and Hrisa!
They went above and beyond and made some special tea for us (malothira) and even gave my wife some meicine and a box of tea bags to go.
Also how can we forget the Kumquat tzikoudia ?
Definitely worth trying while in Stalos !More
It was my mother`s birthday and restaurant`s workers (owners?) were amazing! They organized everything we wanted and more. Even if it ment that they had to acquire us a bottle of sparkling wine that they didn`t have in the restaurant at the moment. And the...food was so so good and portion was really big! I would recommend this place for everyone!!More
Well worth the long slog up the hill from our hotel. Some really nice touches with cold water on the table at no extra cost and complimentary ice cream with the nicest raki I’ve tasted! Food homemade & fresh with the loveliest waitress serving it....Cannot recommend this place highly enough!More
