Went here for a late lunch. Greeted by a rather blunt and unhospitable gentleman who informed us that the only available lunch options were the daily "specials". Not even a simple omelet or a salad was available. We should have been warned...Ordered the Arroz de Pato and it was obviously a dish that had been reheated in the microwave, the... More

Hi honest Reviwer...... Though It would be honest of you to mention that by " late Lunch " you meant " one hour after the kitchen was closed " and you were offered plenty of options appropriate to the hour, soup, sandwiches or toasts.....also mention that the " blunt Gentleman" promised to " Gladly make you anything you want, including... Terrible service. Only two choices for dinner (at 9 pm). Microwave heated food. All in all, terrible choice. Would NOT recommend.

Absolutely delightful town away from the Hurley burley. The restaurant had a business group of 8 but otherwise was empty. Very Portuguese menu and we both chose different pork dishes. Vegetable soup at 1.50 euros was beautiful. 3 courses with a bottle of wine for £15 each was terrific value. The owner was very helpful and attentive.

Alvito has only a few restaurants, and among them this is certainly the best. The food is very good, the service is attentive, the prices are reasonable, an overall pleasant experience.

We spent 3 nights in this tiny town so we were able to try all of the restaurant offerings. We returned twice and in thinking about our meals after visiting larger towns, the lamb preparations compared favorably with more expensive offerings elsewhere. The food was good, well priced and the owner went out of his way to accommodate our inquiries,... More

Alvito in Autumn is not overblessed with dining possibilities, and this looked like (and was) a cosy, welcoming place. The locals were dining there and it is clearly popular. But in common with other eateries, there is little idea of how to treat diners even in the smarter places, let alone the spit and sawdust ones. There was none of... More

Hello Dave H, i apologise for not meeting your expectations, especially since you were such kind and educated customers has i recall. You are right about the service that particular evening, we,ll do our best to improve that situation, the low season is in fact an issue. About the wine though, i'm sure you will give me the benefit, that... More

There are only 3 places you can eat here anyway. The crappy castle (overpriced), a michelin starred place I didn't try and this one which is basically ok for the price.
