Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Stuck in the 80's.
This place is weird and slightly enchanting until you get the bill.
Great fresh sea bass washed down with green wine.
We were only there for 90 mins and drank 2 bottles of fairly cheap wine between 4 but the fish cost us nearly €200 for 4 people.....
If it was outstanding then it would be ok but the presentation was average and the service was lacklustre to say the least.

Great location very close to the beach and overlooking the tidal lagoon, it is reached by a scenic long wooden walkway and there is a car park at the end of the walkway. There is no real menu as they get their fish from the market and so it can change daily, we loved this idea but it made ordering very rushed, chaotic and you have no idea what the cost will be. As ever in this area there is a cover charge for bread which we feel is a rip off. Service is poor, if you want anything you are rarely asked and have to try and grab staff’s attention as they rush around. We found our clams very disappointing, tasteless and rubbery but our fish and tiger prawn were excellent. But now comes the reason for not awarding more stars, one tiger prawn, not huge, was €51 and the rest of the meal was similarly shocking on value. So to summarise great location, good food, poor service with absolutely exorbitant prices which were not warranted. A couple of miles away at Faro Beach there are local restaurants serving authentic Portuguese dishes that provide better service, better food at far more reasonable prices.

This beach restaurant is accessed along a footbridge across a lagoon. Lovely setting (ignoring the aircraft taking off overhead from nearby Faro airport). The menu is pretty straightforward.....basically whatever fish they have from what was caught overnight is what you can choose from. We had grouper and it was served up on a large plate from which the four of us took our share. The staff aren't what I would call the friendliest, hardly exuding the bonhomie that we find prevalent in the Algarve, but were efficient enough. Italian opera and arias are played out on the loudspeakers....a little too loud and I am sure I heard some repeats so the playlist can't be that long.
The fresh fish is the star of the restaurant, but it comes at a price. I am not sure the value for money equation quite worked here.

Total rip off. Forget sign outside saying “FULL” -it should read “PREPARE TO BE MUGGED”. Only beach restaurant without a view of the beach. Keep your head down as you meander through the maze of yellow sun parasols before getting to your table. Then prepare for actually pretty good food, nicely presented and then get ready for that awkward “How much?!” Moment - sea bass at EUR90 per kilo - must be caught by mermaids at that price! Stick to BJs, Parrilla Beach Bar eat al if you fancy eating great food with an actual view of the beach and without the need to remortgage!!!

We picked a great location for enyoing good food with the family. The experience ended up being a disappointment. You choose your fish from the counter (with some pushing from the staff) without a clue what you will pay for it. When you get the staggering bill (including 30 plus euro for 1 prawn!) they tell you all kind of stories but you have nothing in hands to argue against an obvious scam. Add the extremely loud pseudo opera music (to scare customers away?), generally uninterested staff and you have all the arguments to stay away from this tourist trap. I suggest you enjoy the beach and then spend the ca 100 euros pp in a decently rated restaurant that the region has on offer. We will not come back here anymore. Maybe the competent Portugese ministry interested in tourism and fair business should have a look here.

After not having visited the restaurant for 5 years I decided to visit it again. Not much has changed the owner of the restaurant is rude and arrogant and just walked away as I was talking to him about the fish order. The starter turned up within a minute and they hadn’t even brought the wine over does it really have to be so quick? We were in and out of there in 55 minutes. The fish is excellent but they want to charge 5 star prices with one star service. The waitress asked how the meal was and I told her it was very disappointing experience and she then asked for a tip! Dos Passos up the road is much better. Won’t be coming back

Our expectations were high based on recommendations from friends and the majority of TA reviews. The standard of hospitality, food and service are really high. Ok it’s tiny and rustic shack but that’s its charm.
We had lobster and tuna salads, tiger prawns and fillets of local fish, a; simply but exceptionally cooked.
A really good team of people expertly and efficiently serving the diners.
Great wine and champagne options too.
In summary It’s is expensive but worth it, we spent €330 for two with fine wine and a decent tip.
On our go again list....

Probably the most expensive seafood "beach-shack" you will ever goto. We've been treating ourselves there to lunch there once a year for over 30 years and look forward to it every year. I've never been able to work out the prices even though the blackboard "menu" has remained unchanged for years. Our tip? Let the staff choose the amounts of fish/shellfish for you.

Never felt discriminated in any way in Portugal, until I went to Gigi beach bar. If you speak Portuguese or you don’t show up with a fancy outfit, you won’t get a table or they will try to put you on the worse table, even if you have a reservation.
Then, they don’t weigh the fish in front of you so they can charge whatever they want.
Food was so average I couldn’t believe the ridiculous price they charged for 2 squids - 55€!!!
So sad to see this Portuguese mentality based on appearance judgments.

Tried to eat lunch here. There is no kids food or menu and they would not even sell us bread for the kids unless they had a full adult meal with it (eg fish liver salad or clams) even though we would have adult dishes. The menu is only in Portuguese and they made us read it before we sat down presumably so that they would not decide to dine there. It is the only restaurant on the beach (which is lovely) but you need to take your own food.

Had an awful experience... Fish and seafood are good (as in most decent restaurants in Algarve btw) but staff and owners are the most arrogant you will find. Different treatment depending on the language you speak - the porcher the nicer they are.
Very pushy on selling pricey stuff - saw several foreigners getting champagne without asking.
Had a table booked but still managed to get me waiting 20min and tried to switch our spot with a fancier looking couple who were clearly ‘regulars’.
Wake up and realise there are tons of other options in your beautiful region.

They tried to rip us off .We asked for the prawns to be weighed which they will not normally do in front of you and asked for the price. Reluctantly they gave us the price for four prawns €96 yes €96 !!
They then gave us the bill charging €126 for the prawns they tried to rip us off by inventing a price
Do not go there it is a disgrace the way they treat you

Booked a table as everyday we passed it said it was full. Tables are rammed together under yellow parasols. We were taken to our table which was next to the bar and was an enclosed part of the restaurant. The bar was very small and narrow and busy full of staff getting orders and was also very noisy. It wouldn’t have been a relaxing lunch so we asked for another table and was shouted at to go back outside and wait if we didn’t want the table. The lady was rude so we decided we would go somewhere else. The whole place is best described as hectic. We saw some food going out and it did look good but zero customer service.

I recently lunched at Gigi and, unfortunately, found the experience lacking on several fronts. The loud music created a rather uncomfortable ambiance, making conversation a challenge. This was further compounded by the disappointingly arrogant service we received, detracting significantly from our overall enjoyment. The restaurant's decor and furnishings were quite simple and unimpressive, failing to add any charm or character. Lastly, the pricing was exorbitant, especially considering the quality of the food offered. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

They only serve meals, no snacks and no tea and coffee without a meal. No sign to advise potential customers of these restrictions before the start of the long walk to the restaurant. No thought of what clientele, especially seniors, may want.
Extremely selfish attitude.
