We were at a family meeting with a big group of about 50 people. The food was chosen from three main dishes, appetizers and desserts were the same for all. The staff was seriously undermanned. Only two waiters were trying to serve all of us...failing miserably. The whole three course dinner lasted well over three hours, with all of the dishes taking over one hour to come. All the food was prepared ok, but lacking taste and spices. The childrens ch8cken dish was on the other hand swimming in Knorr-like sauce and the potato was was without salt or any other taste. Wines were ok and matched well with the food and the rhubarb sorbet and sauce was fine. Overall the athmosphere of the place was nice, but the speed of service was so abysmal that it ruined the experience almost completely.More

This evening will transfer you back in time and will treat you to a fabulous meal, service and full on experience. On arrival we were welcomed with a delicious raspberry gin and offered two dishes as a choice. We opted for the beetroot & blue...cheese soup, deer stew and ice-cream dessert menu and oh boy what a treat it was. The music, the fantastic explanations by the waiter during servings, the decor and the entire enchanting atmosphere made me feel like I was transferred into a fairly tale.More

We ate at the restaurant for the first time. We arrived before the buffets and the staff ran in a hurry for a moment before they got food options to say. There was a seasonal buffet served. The service included over-fried pork, herb potatoes, bratwursts,...potatoe salad and other salads. Drinking was homemade ale and juice. Dessert was apple pie and vanilla sauce. Buffe cost about 35 euros per person. The restaurant resembles a medieval tavern or tavern. The staff were relaxed and courteous and they had both a desire and a skill to create a cozy atmosphere. I can recommend this restaurant for both its food and service. The interior is clearly distinct from the conventional one and it encourages you to stay a little bit longer.More

Restaurant Piikatyttö is worth of a detour when you are driving on the highway 5 (valtatie 5). The restaurant is situated in Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän by the lake only 40 kilometers (30 minutes) from the highway. However, remember to check opening hours before...you turn to the road 464. They serve breakfast buffets, lunch buffets (Maid Girl's Buffet) and dinner buffets (Servant Boy's Buffet). We ate two lunch buffets and three dinner buffets there during our holiday. Lunch buffets weren't congested at all but it was a good idea to make a table reservation for dinner buffets. Lunch buffets were quite normal but dinner buffets were much better (and also more expensive). Dinner buffets include starters, main courses (always one kind of fish, one kind of meat and side foods) and desserts. Ingredients are fresh, local and seasonal. They served many local fish species, moose (elk), rabbit etc. Everything else was good but perhaps there could be more dessert choices. Nonalcoholic drinks (water, many different juices, homemade beer) are included in the price. The interior is very romantic and exceptional. Everything is made of local wood and stones. There are two fireplaces (yes, they burn real wood in the fireplace) in the main restaurant and they also use candle light. There are many interesting and historical details in the restaurant. The style is medieval. It was -25 degrees Celsius outside and some places were a bit cold in the restaurant, but the atmosphere was very warm. There is spa (swimming pools and many saunas) only 200 meters from the restaurant and a free observation tower only 500 meters from the restaurant. So this is a very good resting place even if you don't stay overnight in the hotel.More

Visited in the middle of the week, when it was nice and peaceful with not too many people around. The elk burger was fantastic and the waitress extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again!

Everything was fantastic! The staff were excellent as well. The restaurant is located within the main lodge, and you'll get there by walking up a stone staircase - very 'castle' like.

During our trip to Järvisydän Hotel and Resort, we enjoyed 3-course dinner, lunch and breakfast here. The food quality is fantastic and very tasty. For people with lactose-intolerance and/or having other special requirements, arrangements were carefully done. I do not eat red-meat, but still I...had a great fine-dining experience courtesy to the restaurants' menu of delicious fish-dishes. The restaurant also has a great wine selection. The service is upto-the-mark and staff is friendly.More
