We stopped off here after our visit to Monolithos Castle. What a fantastic friendly place. Food was perfect, fresh fish for me and husband had Pork Souvlaki, together with a Greek salad and some fresh garlic bread. Accompanied by some house wine it was a...great lunch. Very reasonably priced too with some good views. Thoroughly recommend.More
Why oh why didn't we come here earlier? Maria is so lovely and genuinely friendly! Her food was hands down the best we had of its kind that we had all week on Rhodes! We loved the family atmosphere (literally 3 generations of her family...were involved in the running of the restaurant when we visited) and felt at home.
We shared the taramasalata for starter (the pink fish roe spread) which was delicious and presented to us by Maria's young granddaughter (she was so sweet) and then had the charcoal-grilled fish and the mixed grill. Honestly, this was the third time we had taramasalata and second time we had grilled fish and grilled meats on our trip, and they were by far the best. My meat was particularly tender. We also had a great ice cream sundae dish for dessert, again served to us with pride by the granddaughter.
A previous reviewer was correct: if you are in a hurry you might find it takes time to get your main meal as everything is made fresh and from scratch, however we were not pressed for time at all and nevertheless had our orders taken and drinks served promptly. Maria and her daughter (or daughter-in-law?) had to restart the charcoal grill to make our food, and this is not the fastest way to cook meat (although it is the tastiest!).
One thing to note: we had tried to come a few days earlier, but were too late: Maria closes the restaurant at 8pm unless she has customers who're still finishing meals. On our night we didn't finish until almost 9pm, however, but there was no rush from her for us to leave.
All in all, if we were to stay in Monolithos again, Christos Taverna would be the place we'd eat at the most often!More
The staff is very helpful and friendly!❤️ The views are amazing and this is a perfect place for pause before/after visiting Monolithos Castle! The food is also excellent. Enjoying my life here under grapevines 😍
I highly recommend coming here!
On a road trip round the island we came across Christos Corner on our way up to the beautiful view of Monolithos Castle...... only stopped initially for a quick drink but was greeted so warmly by the lady owner that we felt obliged to have...a bite to eat. Whilst not the quickest service in the world - but who cares when your on holiday with an amazing view to look out on..... the food was worth the wait and had it not been so far up a mountain we would have eaten there every day if we could. All we simply had was Tzatziki which was the best we've ever had served with some lovely toasted bread and then we shared the sausage omelette - both dishes were lovely. Lots of praise to the lovely old lady who welcomed us and the other lady who made and served the food. So glad we didn't drive on and go to the other restaurants just round the corner - we found a hidden gem.More
Called into Christos for lunch after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and it didn't disappoint. Maria (Christos widow) looked after us like family. We started with the Tzatziki which was creamy and garlicky served with the lightest bread. We thought we had hit the jackpot...until our mains arrived. I had the local fish cooked expertly over charcoal and my husband had the goat, my goodness one of the best meals we have had in a long time. My fish was sweet and succulent, Maria taught me how to open the fish (which was whole) and pour olive oil and lemon juice onto the flesh which just elevated it to another level. My husband's goat was also cooked over coals and was tender and juicy, not easy to do with goat, you really need to know what you are doing. This was all washed down with two local beers and two free pour G&T's topped off by complimentary desert. Total bill €42 !!! Highly recommended this understated wonderful family restaurantMore
Nice family taverna, fresh fish, lamb, pork and chicken, Greek salad, pita and tzatziki,- everything prepared at your sight by the hospital host! Nice view makes this place one of the best in village...
Not the best meal we've had in Rhodes, comparably more expensive than other local tavernas for very mediocre food. Wouldn't return.
We had the goat and lamb grill, very fatty, salad, bread and tzasiki was ok.
Would recommend you look at the other local menus...before decidingMore
