Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent seafood restaurant with friendly staff.
We had the shrimp saganaki with fried anchovy, both of them were really delicious and tasty. As usual in Greece and especially in Loutro, the dinner was great value for money without mentioning the free Raki and watermelon!

This is the fourth time we have visited Loutro and eaten at The Blue House. It is our favourite restaurant in Loutro with its traditional Greek ambience and wonderful owners and family waiters.I would recommend the tasty breakfasts with Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit, fresh orange juice and a cafetière.Alternatively, the cooked breakfast is delicious too.
Evening meals consist of very good traditional Greek fare.Moussaka and fish are favourites. All this and a location on the edge of a clear blue sea make a visit a must for any visitor to Loutro.

Sometimes restaurants with great views can take their customers for granted. I like beef stifado but not all restaurants provide it year round so I was pleased to discover that Blue House had it available. The waiter seemed astonished and affronted that we didn't want starters or any accompaniments for our main course. When we asked for the bill we were surprised that unlike most Cretan restaurants there was no sweet treat or raki. I must say the stifado was tasty but the overall experience was just average

Blue House is one of several tavernas overlooking lovely Loutro harbour. We liked being able to see all the food on display in traditional style. We were happy with our food but felt that some things were overpriced, maybe to keep things simple.

We ate here several times and were always impressed. Lovely smiling waiters who were very welcoming and helpful, eager to show you their home cooked counter. Great vegetarian selection and had perfect calamari here. One of my favourite restaurants.

We stayed 3 nights in Loutro and although we were keen to try other restaurants our first meal was so delicious and very reasonable that we returned to following 2 nights to eat! George and his family were so welcoming, the food is so fresh, the Cretan salad is the best we tasted anywhere. We sat right by the waters edge, it could not have been lovelier. Thank you, we will be back!

What a shame for us - this was always our first choice for evening meal in Loutro, but it just wasn't the same this time. The food was the most expensive of all our meals in Sfakia this visit, it wasn't as good as usual, and it was the only meal out of all those we had in the Sfakia area this week that didn't serve up complimentary desserts and raki at the end.
Hope things can get back to normal.

Brilliant food. Set with views of the beautiful Libyan sea. The food is freshly made and on display in glass fridges. George and Marcus are a delight. So welcoming, helpful and friendly. I had a delicious plate of meat balls and potatoes. Washed down with a glass or two of wine. Enjoy the view and my friends company.

Great location to eat with an excellent view across the bay. Traditional Cretan food made very well (though I would have liked chips with the sardines - the chicken was much more generous! Aubergine salad was great too. Friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere (and bandana dog!)

One of the best choices we made in Loutro. Nice food with a variety of stews. Reasonable prices (around 50 euros for two people for salads, appetizers, seafood, cooked beers). Very satisfactory service and we had the pleasure of enjoying a cherry at the end, as I would say is mandatory in every Greek restaurant. I would easily go again. (try the Greek/Cretan salad I think they called it, it's 7.5 euros and has sour cherry and graviera - unexpectedly good combination).

Dined here pre Covid and the choice of traditional dishes, fish and meats is very good.
Cheese stuffed peppers were excellent, and red snapper to share was cooked to perfection accompanied by the olive oil and lemon dressing. The tartar sauce on the side of the plate was tasty.
Service very attentive and view spectacular. An excellent experience.

We are a group of 40 people who had booked the restaurant two months before via telephone and confirmed email. Once we arrived, however, we were greeted with arrogance and treated badly, an unusual circumstance for Greece. We found this behavior truly unprofessional: naturally we went to another tavern (excellent)

Stop for lunch... tzatziki ok but both plates of tasteless souvlaki. French fries and almost non-existent accompaniments (some tzatziki onions and tomatoes). The really fat pork one to avoid at all Awards...

Blue House never disappoints. Friendly, friendly staff, lovely baked dishes such as aubergine with feta or octopus pasta, and good house wine.
Such a great evening location too, sitting right on the harbour. Magical.
