Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Served by Daniel who was just lovely, very helpful and professional. The soup and sandwich we can only describe as outstanding. A really lovely experience. Thank you Daniel and Chester Beattys!

Two of us had an excellent meal delivered with excellent customer service on Sunday evening 17th July 2022. We arrived around 7.30pm and ordered vegetable soup followed by two 6oz steaks with the trimmings. The soup was to die for and the main course was...simply delicious! The prices were reasonable for what was an excellent meal. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic. Well done to this lovely restaurant - we will be back !More

The food here is very good. The staff are very friendly. It's a pub setting, so may not be to everyone's taste. Would definitely go back, though! The Chicken Madras curry is great!

I have eaten here a few times before Covid struck and hopes for a great meal were high. The staff were excellent, Covid measures were very good and our vaccination status was checked. The only disappointment was the quality of the food. I had fish...and chips, the portion of fish looked good but there was more batter than fish! My husband had a pie which wasn’t very tasty. The chips were okay and the portion of vegetables a bit too small. It’s a nice place for a drink but I won’t be eating here again.More

We stayed at Chester Beatty's on the spur of the moment on our way back from Galway to Dublin. The rooms were charming, and the staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was fantastic. The Beef...and Guinness Pie was delicious, and the side dish of potatoes with cheese and garlic was so tasty that we gobbled it up. Breakfast was also excellent. What a restful and enjoyable stay! Thank you!!!More

My family and I had lunch/dinner in the Chester Beatty Inn a couple of times over the summer. The food is excellent. In fact, I'd say it is without question, the best pub food in Ashford. I'd particularly recommend the smoked chicken burger. I'd say...service was okay and value was average. I'll certainly dine here again when I'm in the area.More

Arrived on a very busy Sunday afternoon in early September. The car park was full and the place was hopping. We decided to take a flyer and try it for a bite to eat. A short delay in getting a table but it was vey...busy. Ordered our food and waited. Guinness Beef Pie for my friend and Chicken Maryland for me. Chicken Maryland is a throwback to the 1970’s but use to be a good meal. The atmosphere in the place was great. There is enough memorabilia around to keep you chatting if you find conversation drying up. The food came and it was GREAT. Not often I get to say that. The plates were hot, the food was hot and there was plenty of it. When ordering I was asked if I wanted skinny or chunky chips? Not known for being skinny so chunky it was. Good choice. The food was really well cooked. The vegetables were lovely. Turnip - not my favourite by a long way - was delicious. Seems to have been done in a mild garlic flavoured water and was the better for it. We were going to have a desert but decided not too as it would have been pure gluttony. So next time you are on the M11 and want to be fed take the time to divert to Ashford and enjoy the atmosphere and good food. We will certainly be back.More

This is a gem of a place. Fabulous setting with beautiful planting, waterfall, comfortable seating and blankets. Food was exceptional, would recommend the chicken and prawn benedictine. Great selection of wines with very thorough descriptions (sadly lacking in many restaurants) and service was friendly and...efficient. Although a walk in, no bookings being taken at the moment, we were directed to a designated waiting area, where we had our drinks whilst waiting for our table. We were not ignored and staff came over to inform us of the 'table status'. Once seated, we were not rushed and taken care of as though we were family. In a nut shell, this is a wonderful place to visit, great food and atmosphere.More

Absolutely excellent service. Food was excellent, staff were all so friendly. We were accommodated as it was walk in only. The outdoor dining area is presented really well. The waterfall was a lovely addition to listen to and the welcoming planters were a gorgeous touch...too. We’ve eaten here on numerous occasions and we always come back as we’re never disappointed.More

My husband & I were so lucky that we found this little gem in Ashford. 5 stars all round for value, service, food (food is really good especially the chowder!) cleanliness (fair play to Catherine our room was spotless & so comfy) & overall just...a lovely place to spend a few days. This is a family run hotel & so nice to meet all the family mucking in very happily over a bonkers busy bank holiday weekend when restrictions lifted. Everything done with a smile & bit of craic & a chat with everyone. Great location for seeing the beautiful sights of Wicklow with great advice on best spots to visit. So good we are booked to go back in a few weeks!More

Called in here for dinner. Not accepting bookings but didn't have long to wait for a table. Lovely experience eating outdoors, and what a beautiful sunny day. Social distancing in place, and sanitisers visible, for all to use. Toilets have been decorated, look beautiful, but...I might add, they were also beautiful before new paintwork etc. Menu as normal fantastic. Staff so welcoming and kind. It's nice to feel a little normality returning. Long may it last.More
