The Loan Star is amazing but I feel the lunch menu does not live up to the ambiance and excellent service. It's more Mac&Cheese or Pizza than the easily available excellent island produce. However the evening menu is a totally different experience. You have to...be some kind of Michael Winner character to find fault. I would encourage you to book an evening meal, arrive 30 - 45minutes early. Order a cocktail at the cocktail bar...such in the atmosphere, and watch the sunset. It use to be a great place for celebrity spotting but there is a bit more leopard print now... I digress...the food and the service are first class, the whole atmosphere makes you feel you are on a special night out. You will hear a lot of people say its expensive...its not ! Look carefully at the whole experience the Loan Star gives you. Its extremely good value. If you don't want to feel special...the Chefette in Spietestown might be the ticket?More

Dined here for lunch. Great to be sat directly looking at the beach. It was a beautiful day too which made the sea look so blue. Service was great and food was too. Nice selection on the menu and staff had no issue adding truffle...to my dish. Accommodated us having a 10 months old with us too. Cocktails were lovely. Parking easy and looked after by concierge. Approx 220 bajan per person for starters and mains and 2 drinks.More

We dined at lone star last night and everything was perfect. Food was delicious, service was great, good atmosphere for COVID times, and beautiful interiors. Staff were very friendly and quick to respond to requests. Best meal on the island so far!

The walk downstairs and the beautiful beach view during the day or buzzing restaurant in the evening is the quintessential platinum coast. We had two dinners, two lunches and squeezed in a breakfast, so safe to say we like it here! The food can be...somewhat hit and miss ,sometimes great and at other times a bit mediocre. However, the service is always superb and full of friendly fun. This restaurant is about ambiance, place and people and I look forward to doing it all again next time around.More

A firm favourite of ours. Here for Christmas Day 2020, place was buzzing, but the staff were still on the case and slick. Food was stunning as always, great location and a fantastic Christmas dinner had by all. Came for dinner a few nights before...too with a larger table and again, superb, love a waterfront table, great wine and cocktails, fantastic menu and well executed. Will be back time and time again.More

Cheap curry and sticky seat are my main memories. I chose the local curry as I had enjoyed this dish on numerous occasion around the island over the years. If I’d read trip advisor beforehand I would’ve realised this is a mistake. It was supposed...to be chicken but I think the chef must’ve misread it for potato. It was simply a very plain unspicy yellow sludge on some chopped up boiled potatoes. There is a better curry in the roti down at the filling station in Holetown. My friends had what can only be called mediocre food and similar to what is served in many beach cafés around the island. The chairs look lovely but they’ve got a polyester cover on and it doesn’t take long for everyone to feel hot and sticky. It seems that the Lone Star is all about the setting and appearance as it is certainly not about the food that comes out of the kitchens. All the time the punters support the view then there is no incentive for them to change.More

One of the nicer restaurants in Barbados. The venue got an exciting history and looks beautiful. The menu is exciting and got good variation. I had the duck which was good. It was nice and crisp, but it could have been a little juicier. Service...is spot on.More

We loved our dinner here. The place has a real buzz and the service was excellent. I would recommend asking to sit in the central dining area which has more going on. The food was good if not memorable. Definitely the place to go for...a fun night out and the location and look of the place is fantastic. I wish I had bought the T-shirt! Booking is essential for popular times of the year/week.More

Please don’t waste your money! We made the reservation for Boxing Day for 4 people and specified that we wanted a seaside table. On the day (today) we called to ask if we could add two people without losing the seaside table. They said “No...problem. See you later.” When we arrived half an hour before our reservation time we were shown to a table for 4 people which was not a seaside table. So we asked about the change to 6 people and they asked us to wait. We waited around tables with people dining which was awkward as they kept looking at us because we were standing around them eating. I would not have liked this myself if I’d been dining. They came back to us and led us to a table by the toilets for 6 that was not by the seaside. Our main guests had arranged a seaside table to celebrate their engagement that day and were not pleased with the outcome so they asked management to reconsider. We all asked who the owner was and were told “they’re not here”. Eventually we were told to settle for the table by the toilets or leave so we settled down at that table. My wife arrived a few minutes after we sat down and was told to proceed to our table. Nobody showed her where we were seated so she found us and I had to get up and seat her myself. By now I should have realized how the evening was going to progress. The host and hostess of our table decided to enjoy the evening regardless so we agreed to do the same. We ordered our meals eventually after waiting another half an hour for a waiter to turn up. When the meals arrived the starters looked and tasted good. Two of us had the smoked salmon and tartare which was excellent, one had soup which was also good and the others had mussels. All seemed good. Then the mains arrived and we realized the portions were smaller than the starters. After a few minutes devouring the main courses which tasted good enough we were presented with dessert menus. I ordered sticky toffee pudding, my wife ordered a chocolate mousse and the others ordered cheese platter. At no time did anyone come to our table to ask us how everything tested or if everything was ok. We had 5 bottles of wine between the 6 of us so this bill was not going to be cheap. When the desserts arrived I was devastated. The sticky toffee pudding was tiny. The pudding itself was dry and worst of all I could only taste almonds. It was nothing resembling sticky toffee pudding and I remarked that if I wasn’t so hungry I would have sent it back. But after a starter and main I was still starving so would have eaten anything at that point. Our hosts paid the bill. Nobody even said thank you. We left and will never go back. It is horrible value for money. Mediocre food, mediocre and uncaring service with the wait staff dressed in jumper suits (like aircraft handlers) and worst of all it’s more expensive than any other restaurant we have been to on the island including Tides which was absolutely fantastic!! So please don’t waste your time or money here. There are lots of much better places to go in Barbados.More
