Probably the fifth time we have visited. Inside by the fire in winter or outside on the terrace in summer, the welcome is the same - warm. The food is wonderful, either a menu du jour or a la carte. Yesterday we had a wonderful...entree of melon, basil and mint with a dressing. Then rabbit, beautifully tender, and various desserts. Julien is a kind, friendly and informative host who speaks good English, if you need it. Fortunately we live nearby, so we will be back soon.More

We had dinner here on a recent trip to the Dordogne. We had an outdoor table overlooking the garden which was nice and quiet and good for social distancing. I had the goats cheese parcel starter and duck for main course, which were both delicious....The half bottle wine we had was also very tasty. Service was friendly but relaxed, and there was no rush to pay and free up the table.More

This is always a great venue if you want a really nice meal in a fabulous setting. Food is straightforward and follows a pleasant rhythm, service is thoughtful and attentive. We’ve been going here for years and this is the kind of venue you must...support through Covid.More

Friends who had visited before brought us here for the first time and it will not be the last. Menu du jour: melting goats cheese in filo pastry, followed by perfectly cooked guinea fowl on a bed of mash and then an exquisite apple crumble....Washed down by excellent house wines. Julien is a very charming host and we can't wait to go back. But don't tell a soul!More

We found ourselves unexpectantly in Paunat recently while driving from Provence to Normandy. Remembered Chez Julien from a precious stay in Lemuiel. It was as good as we remembered. Julien greeting always makes you feel so welcomed. The menu is simple but excellent amount of...choices for everyone’s taste. The scallop special was especially good as was the lamb. That nights dessert special was prunes in a wine sauce. Even folks who think they don’t like prunes would gobble this up and ask for more. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and service provded. Treat yourselves!More

We had visited the nearby church and rather than run off we decided to stay for lunch. We sat outside under the trees on a sunny October day and it was simply beautiful. The owner was very helpful and the food was excellent. This is...well worth stopping by if you're in the area.More

We chose this restaurant for our last night in the Dordogne. Loved the atmosphere, next to the castle. It was a little hard to find in the dark, but we were glad we ate here. The food was delicious. Both my husband and I had...fish. I had the cod and it was the first time I had ever had cod that was actually flakey. They made accommodations for my food allergies of garlic and onions. My husband enjoyed the wine and dessert too.The service was excellent and the staff friendly. If we had had more time, we would have eaten here again.More

This restaurant is in a fabulous setting in a remote wooded area of Dordogne. Julien was very welcoming and attentive,to our group of 12. His wine recommendations were spot on. He was knowledgeable and helpful both about wine and food. The food was very good...but not outstanding. The large choice meant inevitably that some items such as scallops were frozen. Perhaps concentrate on a smaller menu but fresh locally sourced and prepared ingredients. It was quite expensive for what it was.More

I just managed to secure a table here. We sat outside, it was stunning. The food was so delicious. Great wine was recommended and not the most expensive either. One waiter looked after the whole place very efficiently. I wished we’d had another night to...return.More
