A pleasant, cosy small restaurant. Be sure to reserve your table. Very good four course dinner. We chose sole and crispy crab as a starter. Followed by excellent deer ravioli and sandre fish. We both had a very good pigeon with foie gras poelé as main dish. Beatiful dessert and very friendly staff. Open wines were delicious en quite reasonably... More

After wandering around the charming town of Saverne, we headed to the Restaurant Staeffele where we had made dinner reservations for 7:30. It ended up being one of the best meals I had in France during this three-month period. The service was warm, friendly, and professional; the setting was elegant with white table clothes and flowers; the wine list was... More

Wanted to have lunch at this restaurant on Sunday but was advised by the proprietor that there would be only one table available, next to a party of 25 - she said that it might be noisy and suggested that if possible we should come on another day; we actually went the day before. I only mention this because it... More

Very civilised and elegant restaurant but not at all stuffy. Unobtrusive but attentive service of very well chosen and prepared classic French cooking. Happy for us to share portions which were presented in a manner that made it easy to do this. The only disappointment was that the Alsatian wines on the list were not of the front rank and... More

I do live in the UK, but am originally from Alsace. I have been coming back to this place to eat every time I come back to the Alsace area, as it is by far the best restaurant in Saverne. Very underrated indeed ! The outside looks like a traditional Alsatian Wienstub, but this little restaurant is a true gem.... More

Only let down by multiple dessert courses which they really should have done. A little too much food for our liking.

I had been let down by Taverne Katz and was looking for an alternative when I stumbled by chance across this Restaurant. Although a little pricey everything from the welcome through the service, quality of food and wine were top class.I would recommend it unreservedly.

Our river cruiser was berthed directly opposite Saverne's magnificent chateau and we were looking for a dining experience to match the view. When traveling I often find that an enquiry of the local butcher produces good results and on this occasion his wife came up with a real gem. The chef-proprietor and his front of house wife have owned this... More

For the second time we were there and found the same hospitality, friendliness, but most important quality and quantity of the food. We felt very spoiled and had a delicious experience. Quality wines for moderate prices. A flood of small surprises, amuse-gueuls and entremets made us almost dizzy. Only critic: we could not change the desert for the cheese board,... More

We went to this restaurant because the one we wanted to go to was closed. We were pleasantly surprised; The food was excellent , price reasonable for the quality and the quantity . However, this is an old Alsatian house and we felt that it was too bad that they did not keep the atmosphere of such by transforming the... More
