This was a real find on the windy road that we drove across from the motorway. 5 vegetable dishes with a fish and chicken Creole style accompaniment was the serve of the day (there is no menu, just what Rico wants to serve, he is knowledgeable and sharing about his dishes too). Service from the staff was happy, engaging and... More

This is the third time I have eaten here, and the food and service just get better every time. Rico Lintelligent and his wife Marie-Ange own the house and restaurant, which in the tradition of small French bistros serves only what is available on the day, in true home cooked style so there are no menus. The tables are basic... More

Good local Creole food, we got to taste wild boar for the first time. Pity about the extremely rude hostess, who couldn't be bothered to explain the menu nor take our drinks order. She seemed to be more friendly with the white tourists, so be aware before you decide to go there. I'm not sure that I would take other... More

The price for a lunch was advertised at the entrance and looked attractive - 450RS, so we decided to stop by; it appeared to be 600SR and they did not bother to explain the difference... The food was good, for 4 people we had quite a lot of food. The drink (punch?) with something orange inside was bad; I didn't... More

We stopped here for a coffee after a walk. We were put at a table which had rice left on the tablecloth. It was not cleaned. Three people came to ask us what we wanted, one after another. The coffee was good but massively over priced (petit black coffee) at 170 rupees for two. We got two au lait 20... More

I thought it's R450 per person but just because of the pork dishes it cost 600 per person . Oh well .. The waitress was nice and I was hungry and I arrive at 11am and my country time is 3pm and the waitress allow me to have lunch because lunch only starts at 12pm . Honestly the food is... More

Le Palais is a simple roadside restaurant with gracious staff and plentiful helpings of good local cooking. Unfortunately, it's priced for the drive-by tourist traffic. Sadly...........horribly overpriced.......keep driving.

We came to this restaurant with a local guide who highly recommended it. It is not a fancy place and pretty much nothing makes it stand out from any other road-side eatery in the area, but it is a real gem when it comes to finding great Mauritian cuisine. There is no menu and you do not really get any... More

After a few hours visiting the attractions in the Chamarel area, my family and I wanted to eat local. We decided to re-visit this famous what used to be called a Table D'hote, a little improvised space within the host's home originally destined to serve local traditional dishes to locals and foreigners visiting the corner. I was surprised not only... More

Some 7 friends and I went for lunch in this quaint authentic simple Chamarel village to celebrate one of the parties birthdays. We were not disappointed, a jug of orange juice with a noticeable tot or two of White Rum was placed on our table on arrival by Le Patron Rico. He and his family own and run this restaurant....
