We order two bowls for three pax. The texture of this houtou fudou is much more chewy than udon, if you like chewy things you will love this noodle taste, my son did :) The broth is thick and rich, serve with a very hot big bowl, dont miss it especially if you come to kawaguchiko in winter. Location is... More

Simple menu. Eating the hontou gives distinctive and rich taste of miso. The cold soba was quite good too.

Read about this noodle which sounded it is only available in Fujikawaguchi area. There are a few branches and we tried the outlet at Kawaguchiko Station. Choices from the menu are limited. This vegetarian noodle is served in big portion so 2 persons can share a bowl. Other than that there is nothing to shout about. Some local snack food... More

Famous local specialty in Yamanashi Prefecture - right opposite Kawaguchiko station; there will be a lot of guest during meal hour. Please go there early or prepared to wait outside - but the queue waiting hour is acceptable. Houtou is flat udon noodles and vegetables, and a miso-based soup that is very rich and thick like a stew. Would recommend... More

Hoto noodles are best especially in the winter cold. Flavourful and sweet with fresh vegetables and pumpkin. Try the horse sashimi and braised pork innards too.

Houtou is their signature dish at Fuji area. Many travellers ordered a bowl each for themselves. However, if you're a light eater, I guess a Bowl could be shared by 2 people, while leaving your tummy for sweet treats nearby.

Huge bowl of food. Mostly vegetables, but I'm not sure if it's vegetarian as the broth stock might be meaty. Absolutely amazing food. Warning: the bowls are really hot, and even though there are signs everywhere and the waiters warn you, I don't think it would be safe to bring kids.

Yum! Hoto is such a beautifully balanced, healthy meal that just seamlessly fills that empty space in your stomach. Some of our small group of five adventured outside the Hoto and tried the Horse Sashimi and Pluck (innards) and these also went down a treat. The service was fantastic, they were constantly running on their feet but strived to meet... More
