This restaurant at Pelling is worth a visit. It has a very rustic ambience, filled with international travellers and they serve good food.
We were searching for an authentic and value for money restaurant and our search ended with Kabur. We had delecious chicken curry, dal rice in afternoon. The place did made us come back in evening and we asked Sheldon for making a authentic dish for...us. She went out of her way to cook kewadashi bhutan cuisine which was not in the menu. Thanks to Deepesh, manager of the hotel for keeping great service in affordable price.More
We , a group of 3 adults and 2 kids went to this restaurant for dinner , we are a foodie family , and fond of spicy food(me in particular), so we ordered 2 veg manchow soups , 2 plate veg momos , and 2...veg thukpas , the momos and the thukpa was average, but before that we were served veg manchow soup , which was a disaster , generally veg manchow soup is prepared with finely chopped vegitables ,ginger n garlic in a light soya based broth , and topped with fried noodles, But what we got was totally different, It was a red soup, made with heavy red chilli paste base and sour, It was spicy as hell , Right from our tongue to our tummy felt the burn, so we complained it to the staff and cancelled the soup after tasting it , as it was completely different and more importantly unbearably spicy. Then at the time of billing the owner asked us why we cancelled soup ,for which we told him the reason, for which he is like "IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY ,DONT PAY ,WHY R U MAKING AN ISSUE." When we tried to convince him that completely different from what we.ordered and overly spicy , he says " THIS IS HOW WE MAKE, WE DON'T MAKE ANYTHING SPICY UNLESS CUSTOMER SPECIFY" , For which I told him I did not ask them to make it spicy inspite of it they had made it spicy, He was very very RUDE and LOUD with his word worst customer service .More
Excellent joint for having mouth watering and authentic Sikkimese food. Ambience is also very very cosy.
The food is good, the view is good and the quantities are really good. Do try. Momos both veg and non veg are good and so is the thukpa.
Try the Tibetan garlic bread with a big bowl of soup, sat on the balcony overlooking the snow capped mountains Good free WiFi connection.
We went to try out this place on a friday night but we were informed that only 2 items were unavailable out of the entire menu.
The same was suggested by our host Mr.Pradhan, along with Restaurant Melting Pot. We decided to try both during our 3 days stay in Pelling and liked Kabur very much. It is more than a shack, but the taste of food is awesome. We had...veg/chicken momos, thenduk, thukpa, veg Hakka noodles and veg noodles, all of which were tasty. My kids aged 4 yrs and 3 yrs also had their meals here and they liked it very much. Infact, we found the Thenduk of Kabur to be better than that of Kunga’s - Darjeeling. You can sit for hours here which we did and play guitar without anyone disturbing. The place is frequented by many foreigners. Must visit in Pelling.More
No one had a clue how to deal with customers. I walk into an empty restaurant and sit politely at my table for 10 minutes waiting for the waiter to come to my table. Then in walks another customer who happens to just declare loudly...and clearly that he is in a hurry. The waiter promptly takes his order first while I am made to wait for a further 10 minutes. Then His Excellency deigns to come to our table and takes the order. We tell him politely that we are very hungry. And then the wait started. 45 minutes while item after item ordered after us by the louder group goes to them while we are waiting hoping that something of our order will be delivered. When asked why, the answer is ..... horror of horrors..... "Your order was misplaced". Clearly, that was not true because he wrote the order down on a common sheet of paper, not on a separate slip. It wasn't just us who were made to wait like unwanted vermin who entered uninvited. Another couple who came in shortly after the preferred group waited much after us and finally even asked with hope that the food would be served today. Sordid, sick place, if you ask me. I am sure there are better places out there for someone who wants good food and decent service.More
