Wonderful place to stop in Xidi. Food was good and the place had surprisingly good coffee - which was needed given all the walking.

Struggled to find a good coffee shop at end of our visit to Xidi, but after giving up hope, we stumbled on the Van Gogh just outside the village. Perfect and seems like only proper coffee shop in Xidi.

Van Gogh is hidden behind the Taoyuan Renjia Hotel. Which means it takes some searching, but once you find it, you will be glad you did. Van Gogh Coffee is a rare find. The owners, Rica and Mike, go out of their way to make...you feel welcome. We were staying at the hotel for 3 days while joining the SCP Gran Fondo cycling event, and our experience would not have been nearly as great if not for Van Gogh. The coffee shop features tasteful, artistic yet welcoming decor, the food and drinks are excellent, and the setting is very special. Rica and Mike arranged everything for us, even a traditional chinese music concert right outside of the coffee shop! It was one of my best memories from our trip. Thank you Rica and Mike, we hope to be back next year!More

Spent a few days with friends in the area joining a cycling event. We stumbled across Van Gogh Cafe in desperation to get the daily dose of caffeine. What we found was not just some great espresso with treats of cookies, crackers and chocolate but...also a treat for senses being nestles in a peaceful close to nature environment. Best of all we received a special treat from the owners, Rica and Mike, welcoming us to their home and making that visit to Yi County and the cycling event a memory that will not be forgotten.More

Visting for the first ever Gran Fondo biking event, we found VanGogh on our first morning and it became our 'touchstone' during our visit. Rica and Mike went out of their way to insure that we were well taken care of with food, drink, lively...conversation, and even music on our final evening; a magical outdoor concert given by a neighboring father/daughter duo on classical Chinese instruments. They deliver top quality products and services all in a well thought out, artistic setting accenting the areas artisans and visiting art students. A definite MUST for a trip to the area.More

Found Van Gogh Coffee while waiting for friends after finishing a tour of Xidi village, the World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO in Yi county Huangshan China. The cafe is located outside the village and is 3 minutes walk from the main gate of the...village, so you don’t need to buy an entry ticket to enjoy the coffee. The cafe owner is a British expat who fell in love with the spectacular views of Xidi village and the surrounding hills a couple years ago and even bought the property to set up a home there. Because he also loves food, he carried almost all the gourmet food and coffee ingredients over from Europe and set up this Van Gogh Café. A great selection of tasty coffee so it felt like home.More

we stumbled across this great little cafe that sold delightful pastries and bloody good coffee! what a find! The cafe, (aptly named!) has a real artistic flair with original artwork on the walls painted by the locals. The area is steeped in history with some...stunning surrounding countryside. No wonder so many artist flock here. We'll be back!More
