Read some of the reviews they seem cruel, the food was fine, beer fine, and service friendly and attentive. A very pleasant lunch with nice view of the estuary

Went for late lunch at The Boathouse today. Sat down with a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for company, very nice. Went a little off road and had the shellfish sharing platter but adapted for one. Lucy sorted things, no problem, had a bowl of chunky chips as support. Well.......upon arrival the whole thing became an event. A little daunting. Fresh... More

I organised lunch for 17 people, mainly walkers, a few days ago. We were not asked to pre-book, and following our orders the food arrived surprisingly quickly. A variety of dishes were ordered, and all were considered to be very good, or better. Service was pleasant and efficient. The pub has changed owners since we last visited, and its previous... More

i love the quaintness of The Boathouse, the alcoves, the decor, the conservatory with it's vista of north Wales and the river Dee. The coffee is alright too.

The Boathouse looks very inviting from the outside; it's been recently refurbished and gave the impression of an upmarket gastropub. However, it's very much on a par with the likes of All Bar One or Pitcher & Piano: the menu isn't adventurous at all, but plays it safe - not a hint of any individuality or risk-taking going on. Service... More

My friends and my wife and I have visited the Boathouse on many occasions after a walk in the area and enjoyed our meals. However last Wednesday we had a very disappointing meal. We went with some reservations as we had had a very poor meal at the Goshawk Inn at Mouldsworth which has ben purchased by Hyde Breweries, Manchester.... More

The Boathouse in Parkgate has recently been refurbished so we decided to give it a try for lunch. First impressions were ok, decor and layout improved. We booked for 13:00 and the table we were given was good. There was a specials menu from which we ordered the goats cheese croquettes for a starter. The mains were ordered from the... More

We were keen to try out the Boathouse again after its long overdue refurb which looks brighter and a bit more inviting. There is a real issue with the service though. No real sense of urgency or interest in what each other was doing and it was all a bit disorganised. This may well be a training issue or lack... More

We have visited the Boathouse before refurbishment a few times being local to the area and have always thought it to be...average, a little dated (menu and decor) and alright service. We were delighted when we heard the Boathouse was going to have a well needed refurb. I have to say I don't like the new exterior but that is... More

Lovely Evening meal whilst watching the sun go down after a sunny day. Great views of the Wales and The River Dee. They found us a table on a Friday evening without pre booking after about 25 minutes. Very good food and service.

Description
With magnificent views of the Dee Estuary its no surprise that Parkgate has a reputation as somewhere to eat whilst enjoying the beautiful British coastline. As could be expected, it’s our fish and shellfish selection that we take a particular pride in, the offerings extensive, the produce fresh and the preparation lovingly cared for.
