About
Here, where heaven and earth never meet, lies the vast plain of Campo de San Juan. A seemingly endless space where one can recreate the senses and have a rest from the journey, while running one's eyes over the infinite outline and nuances of this land full of history or glorying in the daily spectacle of the sunset. Nothing better to fully enjoy the delicious culinary culture of La Mancha and its rich historical past, to do it in one of the privileged spots of the area: Surrounded by the "giants", that Miguel de Cervantes immortalized in Don Quixote, and on the same stage where one of the most important passages of his masterwork takes place: The ingenious gentleman's struggle with windmills. Without doubt, taking pleasure in the excellence of our local La Mancha cuisine in this very particular setting, will be one of the most relaxing experiences for your mind and palate during your journey.

The food was really good, a bit pricey for the area, but good. The service at first was fine but after they filled the 6-7 tables around us the 4 people serving them lost it, the chef running around taking the orders while cursing and complaining made it a bit uncomfortable. We asked for the bill 5 times in 15-20min, I got up and went to the register to pay with card the chef or owner didn’t understand why the card reader didn’t work and banged it a couple of times against the desk then another server came and turned it on and charged me. All this while the chef/owner was cursing and complaining I told him to spare me the details and BS and just charge me so I could leave. Nice food, expensive and don’t go if it’s lunch time.

Unless you are starving, I would recommend take the car and look for a better place. Don't expect to have a good view.

After having visited the windmills, we found this restaurant, below a cafe. Very pleasant table, in the caves : it created an intimated atmosphere. The food is typically from Mancha, very tasty and served in large portions. The only weakpoint of the place is the quality of the service. The welcome was a bit fresh and nobody was able to speak at least few words of English or any other european language... so communication with the waiter and the owner was reduced to an absolute minimum (difficult to choose very local dishes then) and we felt as we disturbed the staff... quite strange for such a turistic location.

We had lunch at Cueva La Martina and the experience was very good.  Attended in the room with great professionalism, we chose the menu of the day, it was all delicious, super well cooked and plated: real homemade croquettes, gazpacho, pork chop (I had never eaten one so good, in its point), cheesecake. The restaurant is a cave, if you eat à la carte you do it in a very nice cave outbuildings, very kindly the room staff showed us at the end of the meal, thank you for everything!

My husband and I stopped here while traveling through Castilla-La Mancha, and it was 100% worth the trip. The restaurant is surrounded by the iconic windmills of Don Quijote and historic cave dwellings, which you can easily tour before or after your meal. The restaurant has a more traditional dining area upstairs, but I recommend reserving a table in one of the caves on the lower level. The food was spectacular! We started with several typical Manchego dishes to share: migas, artichokes in olive oil, gachas, and morteruelo. As a main dish, we shared the fried lamb chops. At that point, dessert seemed impossible...but we couldn't resist! My husband loved the chocolate heart with violet ice cream, and I had the chocolate fondant filled with pistachios (which are grown locally). The service was just as incredible as the meal; the owner even stopped by our table to ask where we were from and made some suggestions for typical dishes. Overall, this was a dining experience unlike any other, one that we will never forget. P.s. Don't leave without a bottle of their olive oil!

I want to highlight the kindness of the staff, both Ángel on the terrace who was very friendly and the Mr. who attended us in the cave. The food was delicious, particularly the artichoke flowers and the cod, but everything in general was very good and the chocolate dessert with violet ice cream was spectacular. We will be back.

Extensive menu with typical dishes from the area. All very good. As starters, to share, we had fried cheese with fig jam with brandy and miller morteruelo. The morteruelo was a delicious discovery. Seconds: lamb stew a la pastora and deer fillet marinated with wild sauce, both delicious. He recommended local red wine "Symbol" oak, which was great. For dessert, Manchego cheese cake, delicious. The cave environment is very pleasant. I recommend it for everything, atmosphere, service and food.

My family and I visited the windmills and decided to have lunch here. We ordered two starters to share along with some water and one small coke. The waiter brought bread to the table and never told us there was a 1,5 euro charge for each piece. They also said they didn't have tap water and we were forced to buy fancy water. When the bill showed up they also added another 10% tax beyond the prices that were advertised on the menu. (this didn't happen anywhere else in Spain) All in all my 2 "starter" meal cost me over 45 euros!! The food was good and the atmosphere in the caves was neat but not worth the price to me.

We stopped by for an informal dinner at the terrace. Tasty food but clearly overpriced. Tables and floor far from clean and cozy. The restaurant would have probably been a better option.

Visited the windmills in a group of 12 people and wanted drinks an food. This restaurant has stunning views from its roof top area and had received good Tripadvisor reviews. We ordered drinks to go up to the roof area and were told by the barman that we could do the same for food. Having taken our drinks up stairs we returned to the bar to order food only to be told by a rude man who seemed to be the owner that we would have to eat downstairs. The lower terrace was very crowded and there wasn't enough room to seat us all. Not surprisingly we left as soon as we had finished our first round of drinks. Shame really as they lost out on takings of a minimum EU240. If we could carry drinks for ourselves up a staircase why couldn't we do the same for the food. We felt very unwelcome.

The rules of our restaurant do not allow the consumption of food on the roof terrace of our restaurant, so we find difficult to believe that our waiter invited you to do so and seems more a misunderstanding of the language. We have 4 spaces in our restaurant to meet the different gastronomic needs of our customers: Coffee shop, terrace, restaurant and caves. In addition we put at your disposal our roof terrace to enjoy your drinks, however it has 3 floors of difference with our kitchen and our waiters service. We sincerely believe that we have the right to decide the rules in our home and not allow food to go up on that rooftop that would also clearly worsen the quality of service we want for our customers. As the good Sancho says in Don Quixote's immortal work: "When you go to Rome, do as you see"

As a writer, I found this perch above the valley with a windmill to my right inspiring. I spent an afternoon here writing, sipping coffee and enjoying a fresh salad. My complete lack of Spanish did not deter my waiter from being a gracious host. Definitely check out the delightful restaurant in the cave! Added value: they are dog friendly and provided a bucket of water for my cavalier.

Menu and service was absolutely great, in a magnificent environment of natural caves Surrounded by the mills Don Quixote fought against, we enjoyed a great collection of dishes designed and cooked by chef Pedro Carramolino A pleasure for all senses

We stopped here for lunch while on a wine tour. The cuisine was delicious and well represented the region. Our guide told us he has been many times and has never Thad the same meal. I think he said the owner hunts or buys the food daily. The venue is also very unique, and old home built in the side of a hill. We sat inside but there is also an excellent patio. To top it off, ther are more windmills out side. If you are in the area you must stop here for a unique culinary experience.
