Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I stopped here while traveling through Castilla-La Mancha, and it was 100% worth the trip. The restaurant is surrounded by the iconic windmills of Don Quijote and historic cave dwellings, which you can easily tour before or after your meal. The restaurant...has a more traditional dining area upstairs, but I recommend reserving a table in one of the caves on the lower level. The food was spectacular! We started with several typical Manchego dishes to share: migas, artichokes in olive oil, gachas, and morteruelo. As a main dish, we shared the fried lamb chops. At that point, dessert seemed impossible...but we couldn't resist! My husband loved the chocolate heart with violet ice cream, and I had the chocolate fondant filled with pistachios (which are grown locally). The service was just as incredible as the meal; the owner even stopped by our table to ask where we were from and made some suggestions for typical dishes. Overall, this was a dining experience unlike any other, one that we will never forget. P.s. Don't leave without a bottle of their olive oil!More

My family and I visited the windmills and decided to have lunch here. We ordered two starters to share along with some water and one small coke. The waiter brought bread to the table and never told us there was a 1,5 euro charge for...each piece. They also said they didn't have tap water and we were forced to buy fancy water. When the bill showed up they also added another 10% tax beyond the prices that were advertised on the menu. (this didn't happen anywhere else in Spain) All in all my 2 "starter" meal cost me over 45 euros!! The food was good and the atmosphere in the caves was neat but not worth the price to me.More

We stopped by for an informal dinner at the terrace. Tasty food but clearly overpriced. Tables and floor far from clean and cozy. The restaurant would have probably been a better option.

The food was really good, a bit pricey for the area, but good. The service at first was fine but after they filled the 6-7 tables around us the 4 people serving them lost it, the chef running around taking the orders while cursing and...complaining made it a bit uncomfortable. We asked for the bill 5 times in 15-20min, I got up and went to the register to pay with card the chef or owner didn’t understand why the card reader didn’t work and banged it a couple of times against the desk then another server came and turned it on and charged me. All this while the chef/owner was cursing and complaining I told him to spare me the details and BS and just charge me so I could leave. Nice food, expensive and don’t go if it’s lunch time.More

Visited the windmills in a group of 12 people and wanted drinks an food. This restaurant has stunning views from its roof top area and had received good Tripadvisor reviews. We ordered drinks to go up to the roof area and were told by the...barman that we could do the same for food. Having taken our drinks up stairs we returned to the bar to order food only to be told by a rude man who seemed to be the owner that we would have to eat downstairs. The lower terrace was very crowded and there wasn't enough room to seat us all. Not surprisingly we left as soon as we had finished our first round of drinks. Shame really as they lost out on takings of a minimum EU240. If we could carry drinks for ourselves up a staircase why couldn't we do the same for the food. We felt very unwelcome.More

Unless you are starving, I would recommend take the car and look for a better place. Don't expect to have a good view.

As a writer, I found this perch above the valley with a windmill to my right inspiring. I spent an afternoon here writing, sipping coffee and enjoying a fresh salad. My complete lack of Spanish did not deter my waiter from being a gracious host....Definitely check out the delightful restaurant in the cave! Added value: they are dog friendly and provided a bucket of water for my cavalier.More

We stopped here for lunch while on a wine tour. The cuisine was delicious and well represented the region. Our guide told us he has been many times and has never Thad the same meal. I think he said the owner hunts or buys the...food daily. The venue is also very unique, and old home built in the side of a hill. We sat inside but there is also an excellent patio. To top it off, ther are more windmills out side. If you are in the area you must stop here for a unique culinary experience.More

Wow! this resturante was not only amazing because you got to eat in an underground cave, but the food was beyond delicious. If you get a chance to go here this was one of my favorite places to eat. Plus you walk out side and...you see the famous La Mancaha windmills. I feel truly lucky to have gotten to dine here and if you get the chance....GO!More

We started with Smoke sardines in olive oil, a Foie with some mango and strawberries preserve, Habitas with champignon and proscuioto de bellota and trufo. Main dishes, Cod fishes with smoked garlic and roasted spinach. There were great variety of fish, and meats to choose...from all nicely roasted on charcoal fire. Leg of lamb was excellent. the selection of local wines was very good as well. Let's not forget the wonderful bread made on premises!!! The food presentation was great and the service very cordial and prompt without any rush to get you out.More

After having visited the windmills, we found this restaurant, below a cafe. Very pleasant table, in the caves : it created an intimated atmosphere. The food is typically from Mancha, very tasty and served in large portions. The only weakpoint of the place is the...quality of the service. The welcome was a bit fresh and nobody was able to speak at least few words of English or any other european language... so communication with the waiter and the owner was reduced to an absolute minimum (difficult to choose very local dishes then) and we felt as we disturbed the staff... quite strange for such a turistic location.More

We were taken by our guide Raul, from winetourismspain.com, and what an experience it was! Pedro, the Chef, greeted us at the door. His enthusiasm for cuisine is contagious. My main plate was tuna with tempura. It was delicious! The ambiance is cozy, unique and...beautiful. You can't leave La Mancha without having lunch or dinner at La Cueva La Martina.More
