Pandemia has brought down the main reason to go there: meat
Raw doesn’t mean the fat shouldn’t even be melted. Service was not good as well as the table too small to handle the quantity of plates French fries frozen in a place where you...pay close to 100$ per person
Definitely, we won’t return
Simply such a deception!
Only the desserts are excellentMore
We stumbled on this restaurant while on our stroll of Downtown Santa Ana. With a n unassufood.ming presence the restaurant offered plenty of choices for vegetarians. Waiter was from Jamaic, had a plenty of engaiging conversation and was very helpful in the selection of
I went there with colleagues. We had a nice enough dinner. The steak was somewhere between nice and unremarkable....honestly I didn't really notice. We got a range of starters & they were delicious. We didn't have desert or coffee. We didn't have much alcohol. I...nearly fell of my chair when I saw the bill. I went back over the bill a few days later to see if we were overcharged. We were not. The count of plates & drinks made sense...so why on earth could a meal cost so much in an apparent low cost economy venue? The steaks come in around $30-$40 range. Maybe that's ok by US standards....Maybe they get their steak from the US. I'm European and would not pay that for a steak at home but let that one slide. A bottle of 'Doris' beer is $6.50. Now it's hard to let that one slide. Doris beer is brewed in a micro brewery in Costa Rica. The Muga Reserva Rioja came in at $66 a bottle..It's about $26 on my wine app.
The meal was good...not very memorable but good overall. The service was excellent. In fact the staff were delighted to serve us...& why wouldn't they be when they are charging New York prices!More
We enjoy this restaurant each time we are in San Jose. In fact, during a recent visit there with my daughter and grandson (this is a kid friendly place) we went two nights in a row. The food is interesting (not the same old stuff)...and just delicious. Service outstanding. (Although on the second night, our waiter just disappeared and we ended up having someone else- that was strange.) But this is one of my favorite places and I would visit San Jose just to come here!! We found the wines to be great.More
Best meal I have ever had in my life period!!!!! went there two days in a row after my first experience, it is by far the best stake I have ever had, and both times were the same so it was not a fluke....I went...with family and a friend and we ordered a lot of different items in the menu, from the tuna tartar to the lamb and the octupus for appetizers,I had the opportunity to try them all and they were fantastic, I had the skirt steak and it was juicy, tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection and so were all the steaks ordered....impeccable service...desserts were tasty and had great presentation....A little pricey for Costa Rica but recommended 100%More
Went yesterday with my beautiful Girlfriend to this Restaurant. We moved to Santa Ana and we are checking the options around here. We ordered Sangria and when they arrived the waitress asked if everything is ok. I told him that the Sangrias should not half...level of the glass and he answered that they are measured and like that. I noticed how he went to the person in charge and he told him about our input, he just looked towards us but nothing happened. What a pitty...this is exactly when you can do things right and get the best impression of your guest. There is nothing better than a guest telling you what you can do better. I am Spanish/Swiss and knowing how much ice cubes are in a Sangria you need to fill up the glass. Take the Ice cubes out and the glass will be less than half...and this with all the fruits on it so imagine how it looks like when you take the fruits out.
A Restaurant like that should not save money on this very important detail, especially when you charge US10 for one glass of Sangria.
The prices for the wines are too high, charging the double of any wine you get in Europe in a Restaurant.
The food, the quality of the service and the place are very nice.More

Yes, I'm familiar with Argentinian steaks and you're correct, Doris is not an Argentinian steak house. I prefer Doris steaks over Argentinian steaks and Doris dry ages all their steaks as well. Personally, I think Doris steaks are a cut above any Argentinian steak or steak house in Costa Rica.
