Thank you for your post. Since we don't serve lunch neither ramen, you may have had somewhere else but glad sounds like you had good lunch in Yudanaka!

Well known and loved by local people, quite small but very warm welcoming restaurant near Yudanaka train station. The orner, old man, works everything alone, so you need booking in advance. Main dish is 'Chanko nabe' Sumo wrestler's meal which tastes simple base soup and...More

Tried the chanko nabere and it was very good, though I was not keen on the tofu. At 2000 (before tax) it was fairly good value because there was plenty for two of us. The chef/owner was lovely. He gave us some japanese writing and...More

This place was amazing! The food was Michelin star worthy. The passion for providing wonderful food and ambience shone through - the chef seemed to revel in his guests enjoying themselves. Anywhere in the western world he would be a rock star chef!

Tamaya was recommended to me by a girl working at the Shiga Kogen brewery and I was not disappointed. It was such an intimate setting, a small restaurant seating around 12 with raised tatami mat level with low tables, signed sumo posters decorating the walls...More

Traditional style chanko nabe! Served by extremely friendly old chief, excellent chanko nabe with steamed rice and egg! Don't miss the horse shasimi and the local shigakogen beer! Price was acceptable!

This is a cute little place near the yudanika train station. It is run by a husband and wife pair, the husband is very interested in sumo wrestlers. He serves sumo dishes. We had some great veggie options and the food was very good.

Definitely worth experiencing Tamaya. The chef (who is also the waiter and dishwasher etc...) strongly recommends the house special to everyone which is the soup which sumo wrestlers eat (chanko nabe). It is a pretty healthy and filling meal. There are other things on the...More
