Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great spot! Lovely food and even better service. Super cosy and friendly spot, allows dogs which I loved. Stopped for lunch after a local had recommended to after visiting dogs bay. Staff were super helpful and attentive, my partner had soup to start with gorgeous...fresh brown bread. Then the goujons and chips which were very tasty. I had lasagne and coleslaw which was also nice.More

We had an absolutely fantastic experience in Keoghs. Not only was the food delicious, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They always treat us so good when we come. The owner and the manager are absolute gems. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Visited Keoghs twice over the June Bank Holiday weekend. Had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and there is a very good kids menu also. The Monkfisk was just beautiful and the red pepper cream sauce was to die for. The Ribeye steak was...a real treat and was so tender. The place was very busy and we got great care and attention for our waitresses and the kids were well looked after too. I actually don't know how they do it with the amount of people around, but they do have ample seating areas outside...there was a horse show across the road so that kept us entertained also! What a wonderful part of the world...we definitely be back in Keoghs on our next visit.More

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. Caught them on a busy day and was disappointed in the food. Receiving disappointing and uneatable food is bad enough but the disrespect shovelled out by our waitress is why I am writing this review. She was shockingly rude...and argumentative! Wowza what an attitude! The only thing we agreed upon was that after waiting an extremely long time, the pizzas were burnt beyond consumption. From there it went down hill. She then refused to acknowledge the other dish was undercooked and not safe to eat, refused to get the manager, refused to give her name, refused to step away from my table when I asked her to stop arguing with me, instead she leaned in and over me at the table while insisting aggressively my food was just fine. Spraying spit on your customers during your angry rant is just not on! I realise you were having a bad day but taking it out on your customers is really bad form, a waste of your time when your busy, and not good for business. Fair play to the owner who stepped into rescue us from this woman- A true gentleman. I totally believe when you say good staff is hard to find. I hope you will take the time to explain basic customer service skills to this server in particular.More

Keogh’s in Ballyconneely is absolutely terrific. Outstanding food surpassed only by the attitude of all who work there. Special thanks to Pat, Becky, Elena and Bernie. And to Marty for his outstanding fish pie. Can’t wait to return for the third time. Well worth a...visit if you’re anywhere in Connemara. Congrats to all!More

I am not surprised that there is a sticker with “TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence” in the door of Keogh’s of Ballyconneely because it is very well deserved. We visited Keogh’s several times while staying in self-catering accommodation not too far from Ballyconneely. And enjoyed every...single moment. The pub’s interior is quite cosy with plenty of seating and there are also a roofed-over conservatory and a beer garden (which we hope to enjoy at some stage in the future). We had food twice in Keogh’s which was very well presented and tasty. And they do serve a very good pint of Guinness! And they have the delicious "Galway Hooker" on draught. What made our visits even more enjoyable was the staff. Such a cheerful, friendly bunch of people! Good for banter and a laugh. And thanks to the staff’s recommendation of local taxi driver Robbie (who turned out to be a gem!) we were able to enjoy this establishment’s food and drink without having to worry about driving. We hope to be in the area again next spring and will definitely go back to Keogh’s.More
