Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am not surprised that there is a sticker with “TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence” in the door of Keogh’s of Ballyconneely because it is very well deserved. We visited Keogh’s several times while staying in self-catering accommodation not too far from Ballyconneely. And enjoyed every...single moment. The pub’s interior is quite cosy with plenty of seating and there are also a roofed-over conservatory and a beer garden (which we hope to enjoy at some stage in the future). We had food twice in Keogh’s which was very well presented and tasty. And they do serve a very good pint of Guinness! And they have the delicious "Galway Hooker" on draught. What made our visits even more enjoyable was the staff. Such a cheerful, friendly bunch of people! Good for banter and a laugh. And thanks to the staff’s recommendation of local taxi driver Robbie (who turned out to be a gem!) we were able to enjoy this establishment’s food and drink without having to worry about driving. We hope to be in the area again next spring and will definitely go back to Keogh’s.More

We spent a week in Ballyconneely recently and we came to Keogh’s almost everyday for the soup of the day! Each soup was amazing and we especially loved the vegetable soup, so much so that we asked for the recipes! The staff were very friendly...and helpful! We will 100% be back !!!More

Great local favourite. Superb crab claws and perfect Guinness - though note extensive menu and choice of drinks. Love the team. Big fan!

Food was extraordinary super delicious!!! Went two days in a row, the food, service and atmosphere were superb. First luncheon, I had the shrimp & avocado wrap, chips, salad and a cup of butternut squash soup. Saw fish & chips being served to another table...and decided, I had to come back and sample it. Upon my return today, Keoghs was having a special with scallops, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, cauliflower & carrots, could not resist. Outstanding, delicious and so.. yummy. I guess I’ll have to return again for my fish & chips, yeah!!!!More

We spent a week holidaying in Ballyconneely…. The weather was fantastic for the duration and we enjoyed the beautiful beaches, hill walking and fishing. The jewel in the crown for us all was discovering the wonderful Keogh’s gastro- pub. There was plenty on the menu...for both young and older members of our group to enjoy. The quality of the food was superb… fresh fish, chicken, steak, roast beef…The staff were efficient and friendly, Brendan (the owner), took time to advise us on local places of interest and some local history. We ate in Keogh’s every evening, some of our group took advantage of the wholesome breakfast there too. We had a wonderful time and leave with fond memories, but be assured, we will certainly return in the near future!More

Thoroughly enjoyed spending 5 nights in Ballyconneely and we ate in a keoghs 3 nights because the weather was so good and it was too hot to cook! We felt like we were abroad- keoghs was lively, atmospheric and fun. There was live music on...both Saturday and Sunday nights and the good for all members of our family went down well. The kids enjoyed pizzas, chicken curry and a 1/2 portion of roast of the day- all went down a treat. I loved the fresh goujans and fish & chips while my husband loved the prawns and pan fried cod. A lovely and well run pub and Restsurant in the most beautiful surroundings with a warm welcome . Well worth a visitMore

Heard about Keoghs from a few locals in the town of Clifden while holidaying, and decided to try it out. Upon entering, I was greeted with the friendliest welcome from the staff. The food was to die for, and the price was very reasonable. Thank...you to all in Keoghs who made our trip so enjoyable!More

I visited this pub on Sunday with a few friends, we sat outside which is lovely and the food was fine nothing special but not horrible, just fine. The bathrooms weren’t up to standard. My one and only big issue was my waiter he was...extremely rude with no manners. He waved his finger in my face when trying to pay and when taking our order he was quick blunt and RUDE. Will not be returning, was made to feel uncomfortableMore

We called in for lunch around midday just gone. Location was lovely, the property was fairly well kept, food was decent/average, most of the staff were lovely. The reason for the low rating was the middle aged man who served us. We were greeted with...a sharp "how many" at the door. No smile, no friendliness, no hello. He was extremely rude from start to finish from taking our order to paying the bill. It was a pain for him to ask was the food correct it seemed. I've never encountered someone so rude, abrupt and ignorant in all my travels. If that's how he treats half the customers that walks in the door then keoghs have a serious issue on their hands. The guy who served us was referred to by another, more elderly man, (much friendlier to add) as the boss when we pointed out we were being looked after for the bill. If this is the case and he is the boss, I can only feel sorry for the other staff there.More
