Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We passed Keoghs pub while travelling from Clifden to Roundstone last weekend and decided to eat there after a day on the beach. We were a large family group which included small children and I was nervous about big crowds and social distancing.
There was nothing to worry about in fact we all were seated safely in groups of 6 and felt totally at ease. You can eat outside in their covered terrace or inside at tables which are well spread out.
The menus and tables were sanitised between customers and I saw the waitresses use hand sanitiser regularly. We all enjoyed our food, nice Rioja wine and homemade rhubarb pies before we headed off on our journey again.
Thank you to the friendly waitresses and staff at Keoghs. We can’t wait to visit again 🍀

Called in while on a trip to Roundstone recently. Really impressed at their cleanliness and adhering to the COVID rules.
The food is fab - for seafood lovers, you have to try the crab claws and mussels - yummy.
Prices are very reasonable too (very important when travelling with 3 hungry teenagers 🙄)
Great wine list too 🍷
Plenty of outdoor seating with views of the gorgeous Connemara scenery.
Can't wait to go back again.

On a recent holiday in Roundstone with my friend we stopped off for lunch in Keogh’s. My friend ordered the seafood chowder and I had the open seafood sandwich 3 slices of delicious homemade brown bread one topped with smoked salmon the second with prawns and the third with crabmeat all simply delicious 😋 It’s very generous and could easily be shared. I’m now back in Dublin dreaming of that sandwich and planning my return trip to the beautiful West.

We were recommended to go here for a local pint and a bite there .there were 6 of us .. family bubble so we could sit together if allowed but had a plan if Keogh ‘s asked us to due to Covid 19 .
We couldn’t believe that there was almost no awareness of Covid 19 protocols in place and at first we were aware of that
but as it wasn’t crazy busy we said we’d stay
Staff are young .. the girl that was taking our orders was checking her phone as we were ordering food .. we thought she was checking menu updates so we asked but she wasn’t!!
Had to ask to have tables cleaned .sticky .( We all felt that there was no real guidelines about Covid 19 for the customer !!)
We got our food the club sandwich was good but the steak sandwich was the best !
The rest was only ok !!
After a while (about an hour) we decided to pay our bill and go as the place was getting full ..
people lining up like pre Covid waiting to be seated .. etc .. there was a feeling of uncertainty and we all felt uncomfortable!
(There was even a 30 th Party going on in the outdoor area!!)
Pity .. won’t be going back !

Dear Kayla
We are very disappointed to read your review. As I am sure you can appreciate, this was our first week back open since closing in March and we are doing our best.
Whilst I have taken your feedback on board and I am sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable during your visit, I can assure you that we are following all the Covid-19 guidance very carefully and we have gone to a lot of effort to implement all the required protocols. With respect, I find it very difficult to believe that your table was anything other than clean, as there is absolutely no question that all of our tables and dining areas are regularly sanitised in line with Covid-19 protocols. We have plenty of sanitizer dispensers on the premises and all dining tables are spaced the required distance.
With regard to your server checking her mobile. The staff member in question informed us that she was checking the time to put on the order. Regardless I have made it clear to staff going forward that phone use when on duty is not acceptable.
There was a small group celebrating a birthday who had a meal (not a party).
Kind regards
Brendan Keogh

This is not my first time here and they had only just reopened after lock-down, so a few additions still being added, such as dividing screens. It's a large pub, so not a problem for them to organise tables with good social distancing. Started with my first pint of Guinness since February - nectar! This was followed by half dozen oysters taht were juicy, fresh and outstanding. We then had a couple of open seafood combos featuring smoked salmon, prawns and crab on homemade brown bread. All ingredients are quality, fresh and delicious. This is a VERY good pub for food. Service is always friendly and quietly efficient.

We ate in Keogh’s three of the nights during our weeks stay in Roundstone and each night the service and the food were just exceptional. The Brie and crabs claws to start and the fish pie, chicken supreme and beef were simply divine. Such a warm and friendly vibe whilst adhering to all the guidelines that have been put in place. We felt very at ease. Well done to all in Keogh’s. We’ll be back the next time we’re down.

This place is great, seafood was just magnificent, Pat was just so lovely, friendly and super efficient. We had 3 starters between 4 of us the first night but decided we only needed 2 on our 2nd visit there. The muscles, barbecue chicken wings, Brie and crab Claws were amazing and large portions too. The brown bread was the best I’ve ever tasted. My poor husband has pan seared cod in the most delicious garlic cream sauce, our girls and I devoured half of it. I had crab claws and one of my daughters had freshly made chicken goujons they were great too. We went back night 2 of our trip in Connemara and us girls had the cod and Don had the lamb all fab. All we interacted with were just so very nice to us . Don’t miss this great place. Huge garden.

Came from Connemara Golf Links, stopped into Keoghs, what a treat, even in these times where the staff have to work in unprecedented circumstances they made us feel welcome and at ease. The food was phenomenal, in particular the Crab Claws. A special mention to Elena, Tara, Marieann, and Ben who were exemplary. Couldnt recommend this place enough.

We spent a week holidaying in Ballyconneely…. The weather was fantastic for the duration and we enjoyed the beautiful beaches, hill walking and fishing.
The jewel in the crown for us all was discovering the wonderful Keogh’s gastro- pub. There was plenty on the menu for both young and older members of our group to enjoy. The quality of the food was superb… fresh fish, chicken, steak, roast beef…The staff were efficient and friendly, Brendan (the owner), took time to advise us on local places of interest and some local history.
We ate in Keogh’s every evening, some of our group took advantage of the wholesome breakfast there too.
We had a wonderful time and leave with fond memories, but be assured, we will certainly return in the near future!

Food was extraordinary super delicious!!! Went two days in a row, the food, service and atmosphere were superb. First luncheon, I had the shrimp & avocado wrap, chips, salad and a cup of butternut squash soup. Saw fish & chips being served to another table and decided, I had to come back and sample it. Upon my return today, Keoghs was having a special with scallops, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, cauliflower & carrots, could not resist. Outstanding, delicious and so.. yummy. I guess I’ll have to return again for my fish & chips,
yeah!!!!

I visited this pub on Sunday with a few friends, we sat outside which is lovely and the food was fine nothing special but not horrible, just fine. The bathrooms weren’t up to standard. My one and only big issue was my waiter he was extremely rude with no manners. He waved his finger in my face when trying to pay and when taking our order he was quick blunt and RUDE. Will not be returning, was made to feel uncomfortable

I booked for lunch with my elderly mother last week while staying in the area. I had a delicious brie panini with chips and a pint. We sat outside on the patio. There were big efforts to ensure social distancing, with tables spaced well - apart and hand dispensers both inside and outside. Our contact details were taken on arrival. The staff were very friendly and helpful! This was both me and my mother's first time eating out since covid and it was a great experience. Thank you Keoghs!

Thoroughly enjoyed spending 5 nights in Ballyconneely and we ate in a keoghs 3 nights because the weather was so good and it was too hot to cook! We felt like we were abroad- keoghs was lively, atmospheric and fun.
There was live music on both Saturday and Sunday nights and the good for all members of our family went down well.
The kids enjoyed pizzas, chicken curry and a 1/2 portion of roast of the day- all went down a treat.
I loved the fresh goujans and fish & chips while my husband loved the prawns and pan fried cod.
A lovely and well run pub and Restsurant in the most beautiful surroundings with a warm welcome . Well worth a visit

By a long shot the best food we had on our 10 day holiday on the Wild Atlantic Way! The prawn and avocado wrap was made with fresh prawns and absolutely delicious. Jim had the Club Sandwich which was equally excellent. If you love food you must eat here!
