Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While staying at the Connemara Sands Hotel we ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent .. all 6 of us loved our food and the portions were so good we didn’t have room for desert !! The house wine was lovely and the pints of Guinness were perfect and creamy (like you’d get in an old pub ) and like Guinness should be served!! Their french onion soup .. best ever .. the mussels and broth were so so tasty .. all mains were varied but all 6 of us loved everything !! Staff couldn’t do enough for us and tables were layer out ...Comfortable spaces with Covid protocols so a very comfortable dining experience all round !

We visited for dinner while staying at the hotel. We weren’t overly hungry but kids had to eat. We are so glad we went! Everything was so tasty and wonderfully prepared. Kids margherita pizza was generously sized and made fresh. Seafood chowder was filled with fresh seafood and well seasoned. The red pepper soup was so good. And the highlight was the raspberry panna cotta - yum!! Bursting with flavour.
Service was great.

The food here was really good, we had fish and chips and it was excellent, we also had local ice cream which the waiters could explain everything about and its history in connemara which was very impressive! Over all it was a lovely evening there.

Gourmet restaurant run by award winning chef. Food cooked in restaurant on open stations, ventilation could be improved.

Excellent food. Had crab for starter, roasted chicken. Expect to pay 15-20 EUR for a main course. Atmosphere was great, service was good. Recommended - a must if your staying in the hotel.

Absolutely outstanding meal! Everybody was talking about it for days. The scallops with barley was one of the best dishes I've had in my life, the beef was melt-in-your mouth, the parsnip puree was to die for (and who knew you could say that about parsnip puree??!!).

The food and service was incredible. We stayed in the hotel and had dinner with our two children. The dinner menu has a tasting menu and pre-selected menu. I'm sharing in case a family has less adventurous eaters, you may be better suited for the Sands Bar restaurant - which was also great and has more traditional food options for the family.

Arrived off the beach ...a family of six adults, 3 children and two babies!! We were first customers in for lunch and have to say they could not do enough for us. Immediately put three tables together and brought two high chairs. Offered us two dishes of fresh baby food straight away for the babies...they ate the lot. We had lunch
Chowders and fish & chips which were all delicious. Lovely fresh bread. The men agreed they served a good pint.
We came off the local beach but would recommend people go out of their way to try this restaurant. Would assume not lots of passing trade. Thank you.

We enjoyed lovely food in this very busy restaurant. The quality of the lamb was remarkable and the food was surprisingly good. The service was on point and the staff very pleasant. They promised an Irish dance for us but reneged at the last minute! They are forgiven as their service was excellent

We have eaten several times at Erriseask Restaurant at the Connemara Sands Hotel, and it keeps getting better! Chef Stefan Metz of Michelin fame provides an extraordinary prix fixe tasting menu that is a delight to the palate and the purse.
Our most recent experience was the best of local fish and shellfish in a luscious sauce, followed by rack of lamb raised locally on the hills of Connemara. The divine dessert was a combination of rich cream & crispy slivers of coconut on an apple compote base.
The price per person was 49 Euro, excluding wine! Don’t tell too many people; we want to keep this to ourselves!

As above.. Sirloin steak was perfect although the vegetables served were not as suggested on the menu.. Just thought I would mention that.
