It is several years since I last went to Casa Pepa. When I arrived I didn't recognise the place. Ignore most of the photos on Tripadvisor as the whole place has been rebuilt and is now a magnificent construction of stone, huge glass windows and...black metal columns. I want that wine cellar. The garden has giant palm trees surrounding ancient olive trees uplit in the night to show ridiculously cute kittens playing in the sunset. As I entered, the staff introduced themselves by name. This costs nothing; but no-one ever seems to do it. My heart initially sank as they explained there was a choice of a 6 or 8 course tasting menu and I wasn't sure I was that hungry. I was wrong as the courses are tiny and explode with flavour. The chef, AINA SERRA PEDROS (pronounced Aye-na) is a lady from nearby Gata de Gorgos. She is clearly a star in the making and her assured and consistent cooking means it is only time before she knocks on the door of Michelin 2 star, already having got the one star badge. If you haven't been to Casa Pepa, then put this on your 'must do' list. PS - I then realised that Casa Pepa is owned by the same group as the outstanding Bon Amb Michelin 2-star restaurant in Javea. I suppose that explains a lot.More

I would give Casa Pepa 100 stars if I could. Kind and attentive service. Outstanding, gorgeous food. Beautiful setting. Best smelling toilets in the world! I asked the sommelier for a wine suggestion and he gave us something local - one of the cheapest on...the menu actually! It was so delicious,I bought 2 bottles at the end of the night to take home!More

We decided to try this restaurant after having a wonderful meal in its sister establishment, BonAm (2*). We were not disappointed! Very unpretentious from the outside, but one inside it looks lovely! The restaurant is very stylish with interesting artworks outside (where we ate amongst...the olive trees). The food was interesting and innovative, the staff were friendly and efficient and you could tell they loved their jobs! Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Can’t decide which restaurant I prefer!!More

Casa Pepa is worth visiting if you enjoy gastronomic lunch or dinner. Excellent food and a large wine list in a good ambiance. His one Michelin star worthy.

Excellent restaurant located in the middle of olive grove. We visited him for dinner and ordered a tasting menu. The food is very varied and interestingly prepared, with maybe 7 or 8 separate dishes. It seemed to me that in most dishes they rely on...fermentation as the main method of preparation. The atmosphere is also very good, as we were sitting in the open garden. The service was also at the level required for such a restaurant. The whole experience took about 3 hours.More

After a disappointing visit to Casa Manolo in Daimus, our expectations for this restaurant (also with one michelin star) was moderate. Well: we came out very happy and satisfied. Not only the staff was exemplary and accommodating, the cuisine was succulent and go close to...a few 2star restaurants we did during the trip. Environment is quite and relaxing. Very nice garden. Lots of personnel for only 2 tables due to Covid. Hope you survive the crisis, Casa Pepa! You deserve a full house every night!More

Resident in this area since 2002, we have eaten in many places and enjoyed some excellent food. However, until last week, we have never found service to match - no matter how well intentioned. At Casa Pepa under the new regime, we found immaculate attention...from everyone we met. When I visited mid-afternoon, four days beforehand to discuss a possible booking, I was met by busy kitchen staff and the young woman chef who handled my enquiry not only showed me the seasonal menu but passed on the key points of my requirement. Thus, when I later phoned to book, the restaurant manager instantly engaged with me and the event took shape with ease. A final phone call from the restaurant, on the eve of the booking, was further reassurance that our evening would run smoothly. A celebration is not an everyday event, we were prepared for the cost and trusted the establishment. We were not disappointed, even my hope that there would be a menu for guests, as opposed to host, was met. That one of our number could not eat fish had been smoothly solved with a very thoughtful selection of meat alternatives where necessary. I have spent much time praising the service - the delicious, delicately composed and presented dishes were of course the centrepieces of our lovely evening. We like good food and are prepared to pay for it; it is wonderful to know that among the many good places to eat locally there is somewhere for that special occasion. Our thanks and good wishes to the new team at Casa Pepa.More

To start, during the meal, a cat was walking around the table and almost jumped on our table. I am intolerant to lactose and gluten and asked for a "gluten and lactose free" menu (I called several days before with this request) When serving the...dessert, they made an error and served me a lactose dessert like everybody else. One waiter figured out and changed it some minutes after but I started tasting it (I am just intolerant but it could be a very dangerous mistake specially from a Michelin restaurant) Normally in Michelin restaurants, each time a dish is served, the waiter takes time to explain what are we eating (Degustation menu) . This did not occur. They just served and left, two times in a row. Hence I asked to bring a menu in order to follow our Degustation menu but they never brought it ... We had to call them many times during the evening (the restaurant was not full at all so no reason for taking so long) The worse and most unbelievable part is that they made a mistake in the invoice and made me pay 200€ extra by error !! (charging Champagne that we never ordered). I found out after arriving at home ... I called them right away, the same day, they figured out they made this huge mistake and told me to come back the day after, at 4pm. We had to come back the next day which killed precious time during our holidays... The lady who received us was not nice at all and sorry to say not empathic at all. She did not want to give us a discount or anything. She was almost laughing at us when we said we were disappointed... ! We took the most expensive menu with several wines and paid way more than we should. We simply asked for a compensation that we did not have because the lady waiter had an awful behavior with us. Conclusion: We had to use our bank card to get back the wrong amount we paid the day before and then re-pay the correct amount with NO discount at all (I kept all the receipts of this sad story). This is unacceptable ! This situation is not expected from a Michelin star. The bad behavior from the beginning to the end of this misadventure is not worthy of our respect. I know no one is perfect as all humans, but to be honest I don't think this is acceptable, specially from a Michelin star restaurant and furthermore from the female waiter’s disrespectful behavior. We are still very shocked and sad about it. I am more than happy to be contacted by the restaurant management, instead of replying to this comment saying that I am not telling the truth, that will prove that Casa Pepa does not want to really solve this issue, and that this restaurant does not respect at all the customers that we are. Once again, I can of course provide the invoices reflecting the huge error from the restaurant.More

The restaurant is in the outskirts of the town of Ondara, near Denia. Not easy to find if you do not have a satnav. The narrow way that leads to the restaurant from the main road is not sign posted. We sit in a covered...terrace facing the garden. Four people for dinner. Two entries, four main courses (2x cod, 2x entrecote), a bottle of local red wine, and 2 desserts raise the bill to 275 Euros. The quality of the ingredients was good (although the meat was not outstanding at all), the service kind and professional, but I had the impression of paying too much for the kind, and amount, of food ordered. You can find better alternatives in the area.More
