An excellent lunch, efficient and friendly staff. Easy to find just off the A590. They were very busy but all the food we had was hot and beautifully cooked. Will definitely return.

We live within 10 miles of Grange and this is a pub that we have not visited for quite a few years , just a 100 mtrs off the start of the dual carriageway on the way to Grange-over-sands , sat beside what was the old A-road . plenty of parking with its own car park and as the old... More

Our experience here was mixed - the service was good and the value was excellent but the atmosphere isn't amazing (the traditional candlesticks on the tables are great but the bright spotlights in the ceiling maybe not). The wait for food was longish but they had a few large parties in and you can tell they cook meals to order... More

Visited today with my mum wanting just a quick bite. Looks like a fab pub and initially staff gave a friendly welcome with drinks being served quickly, however we then had to wait another 10 mins to order. We both ordered the leek and potato soup hoping that it would be served quickly. How wrong we were another 25 mins... More

Dear Kylie I am sorry that you seem to have had a bad experience with us here at The Derby Arms. I usually do not respond to reviews left on Trip Advisor, because sometimes you just cannot please everyone, no matter how hard you try. But this time I thought I really must address some of your issues. Firstly regarding... More

We stayed at a nearby B&B and popped in for a drink and a meal. Excellent food and good service. Highly recommended.

Excellent country pub which serves really good food at a reasonable price. Had the prawns and then mallard which was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.

Good local pub with accommodation . Pleasant staff , nice food . Ask for the snug - great round table just off the main restaurant . Serves in the bar too if you have a dog .

I can honestly say I had the best pie I've ever had. Steak and ale, IIRC, the meat portion was monstrous! Very wholesome. My other half had the risotto which was prepared without milk/cream by request as she is dairy intolerant. Good pub grub, good selection of beers.

What can I say? My partner had the "large" fish and chips, it was just greasy. The fish was not crispy at all due to the fact it was saturated in grease and lacked and flavour. The chips were cooked in degraded oil and tasted horrid. I had the derby burger.....it tasted like off mince smells and that was the... More

Nice village pub. No frills, but warm comfortable and friendly. Surprisingly good food and real ale. Varied menu and specials board all very reasonably priced.

The Derby Arms joined the Ainscoughs Pub team in December 2008 after extensive restoration. Serving good food, beer and wine in a traditional environment with log fires and period furniture just like the rest of the pubs in the group. We have now been recommended in the Michelin Pub Guide for 2014 and have won the 'Pub of the Season' award, CAMRA. We have a games room with a pool table and dart board which is intended to form the focus of the village. The Derby Arms was purchased from Punch Taverns by the Witherslack Community Land Trust and the Ainscough Family took over the lease to preserve it as part of Witherslack life. Part of the pub was converted into the village shop, run by the community with community shareholders.
