We just popped in from day out with our grandaughter who was fast alseep. The staff were freindly...barman left a colouring book and some crayons just in case she woke up. Food wasn't fast coming out but was well worth the wait. I had fish and chips and portion size was great...compliments to the chef. Will defiantly be coming back

I was nearly put off by their claim to be a gastro pub and this might be what is causing some of the more mediocre reviews - perhaps those reviewers were seeking one and it doesn't quite hit that description. I think I would describe it as a dining pub that is friendly and seems to serve tasty food. We... More

Thankyou we really appreciate your feedback, and I would agree with your opinion that we are a friendly dining pub which serves simple yet good quality traditional English food with fresh ingredients. Hope to have you back the next time you visit the Abbey :) More

Came to the restaurant today after a visit to Anglesey Abbey and was very impressed. There were 8 of us in our party (3 adults and 5 children). On arrival, the waiter rearranged the tables so we could all sit together. Service was quick, which with lots of hungry children, was a relief! Having said that, there were plenty of... More

We wanted to try somewhere local as opposed to going into Cambridge. Service by the barman was outstanding however when it came to food it was not good at all. Firstly, the Camembert started was not all melted only the outside was and it was only just warm. Then the seafood platter which was to include crab, anchovies, salmon, taramasalata,... More

Im very sorry that you were unhappy with your food, the camembert, king prawns and pitta bread simply should not have been cold and I will be informing my chef to pay closer attention to this. I was told that your table was unhappy with the anchovies being too salty however, I was not aware that tinned anchovies had been... More

Outrageously expensive, if you want to eat here, then go rob a bank first. 13 pounds for Fish and Chips, they really are taking the mick. It's hailed as a Pub and Restaurant, there is no "Pub" no bar to go get a drink, and no tables other than for the restaurant. Won't be going back.

Sorry that you think the prices are steep, Ill look into it and see what I can do. However with a small amount of observation one would find that we do in fact have a bar, as well as an entire half of the pub devoted for people to sit, eat and drink and do whatever they wish. This area... More

Booked for Mothers Day, arrived 30 minutes early so we could all have a drink before ordering. We were told our table wasn't ready so would we like a drink while we wait, the problem was there wasn't anywhere to sit apart from outside. As we had our frail 82 year old mother with us we went outside so she... More

Terribly sorry there was nowhere in our bar area to sit whilst we prepared the restaurant for our second sitting, we were fully booked on Mothering Sunday and every single table was in use. We did specify that all bookings in this sitting started at 2:30 and we were very conscious of the time pressure we were under to reset... More

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime as it was my Mothers 95th, it was not busy with approx. a dozen other diners. Waiter immediately apologised for the restaurant being colder than usual due to radiator problems but was not uncomfortable. Service was reasonably quick and attentive without being intrusive. Mains were good and generous although my pork was a tad over... More

Having been to this restaurant on numerous occasions. Today, I booked a table last minute. Surprised that I got a table that quick for a Saturday night. We arrived to a cold pub. However, the staff were polite on entry. Staff took the drink order which came not complete. No water. We decided to have starters of Tomato soup. After... More

Good Afternoon Sir/Madam, sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time with us. Although the soup may have not been to your liking, I can guarantee first-hand that a 35 minute wait was not experienced for soup, and your main course followed within 20 minutes. We had 40 people dining with us that Saturday evening and food was being... More

After a very good previous experience at the Wheatsheaf we revisited with family from Ipswich. We were all delighted with the service, quality and quantity of the food. Its so nice knowing we can recommend and entertain at this well decorated comfortable restaurant.

Good evening, sorry to see that your weren't happy with your birthday meal, it is clear after this experience that a pre-order for large parties on Sundays will be necessary to avoid this happening again. Sunday lunch here at the Wheatsheaf have until now operated on a first come, first serve basis meaning later in the afternoon the roasted meat... More
