This looks like a nice pub from the outisde, but it's literally next to the M27. We found the food to be overpriced, uninspiring and bland.

I went to this self-styled 'gastro-pub' for a meal to catch up with friends I hadn't seen for quite a while. The food was OK. I thought it was a bit pricey for what was on offer but it was quite tasty and well cooked even if it did not live up to the pretentious descriptions on the menu. However,... More

What a disgrace. As if it isn't bad enough to find maggots in the salad, (this was in a sharing platter), the way in which the team handled the issue was shocking. We discreetly called the waitress over to advise about the maggots. She went to get the waiter, who picked the platter up and said sorry and asked if... More

Meat was over cooked, all served in a Yorkshire that was soggy by the time it reached us. Veg was unseasoned and averagely cooked. The gravy was jazzed up shop bought gravy no depth of flavour. I am also stumped how somewhere can serve a roast less than 10 minutes after I've ordered, because it's heated? Which would explain the... More

Visited here with my family in a group of 6 adults. Really cosy pub with open fires crackling away, staff were delightful and the food, well I can only say it was faultless. Beautifully presented, very tasty and good portion sizes, we all went away VERY happy diners. We will be back without a doubt- thank you!

Meet up a couple of times a year here with ex workmates. As usual we were welcomed on arrival and served promptly. Staff were very polite and efficient. Food was excellent with a good choice. I can recommend the Cumberland sausage and mash. Wonderful! Everyone else seemed impressed too. We'll continue to go there. Lovely place.

We have eaten here a few times and as we were staying at the Bartley Lodge we decided to walk here for lunch. We hadn't booked and unfortunately at the same time as we got there so did some parties that had booked. The bar was heaving and initially we thought we were out of luck but managed to find... More

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Sir John Barleycorn. Booking online was very straightforward although there was some confusion on arrival due to not booking via telephone. The menu has a good selection. In terms of price it's not cheap, but the food is delicious and well presented.
