The place is French with typical bistro menu that is all cooked freshly with Gallic flair. It is full of locals who obviously frequent it often. The prices are very reasonable and therefore cannot but recommend it whole heartedly. A local treasure.

Fabulous fresh food beautifully cooked. Quick service, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. The only improvement would be just one vegetarian main course option on the menu.

This is my favourite local eating place. Frank does everything pretty well on his own...cooking beautiful French food and serving choices of wine and other drinks. Lovely friendly atmosphere and well loved by many of the local folk.

This is a lovely, typically French restaurant with an astonishingly wide menu. Our food was beautifully prepared and the service was friendly and prompt. The House wine is excellent!

Hi, could you let me know if you have gluten free options. Also, have you got a sample lunchtime menu as I can't see that you have got a website. Thank you Sarah

Description
Easy to find in the picturesque village of Rottingdean you will find the French inspired restaurant, Bistro Gourmand. French chef Frank Thomeret tell us about his creation.

"It's very much a bistro thing, but its original, traditional bistro food, things you might not find somewhere else. My influences are very Mediterranean, so I make dishes such as the bouillabaisse, its a fish stew with garlic and wine flambe with prawns.

My menu has wonderful variety, as well as steaks, I have coq au vin, veal chops and lamb cassoulet. The portions are generous and the price very reasonable. I call it Provencal cuisine". So if you fancy some delicious home cooked food with a difference, then this is the place for you.
