Located in the central square in Belgodere, the Cafe De France offers good, Corsican fare and is very popular with the locals - the lady owner is charming and runs the Cafe very efficiently. Nice place for lunch or a simple dinner - reasonable prices...- recommended.More

We visited Café de France for our evening meal (Café de France and Café de la Paix are in effect two cafés with different names but offering the same service). We were disappointed on a number of levels. There was very little choice, and the...dishes we ordered might be considered starters in the UK, but with main dish prices. That might have been acceptable if the food was good but it was average. We asked for tap water, but instead were served a bottle of still water for which we were charged €3.50. There were flies (not something the café could do something about) and cats (which they could). And the waitress looked like she didn't really care. At one point a stray dog chased one of the cats through the restaurant, and it shimmied up a tree. Its fellow cats then turned on the dog in a brief show of bravado. That was the highlight of our evening!More

We stopped here for lunch while on a cycling holiday. A pleasant shady terrace, friendly service, a delicious salad of cold pasta, pesto, tomatoes, pine nuts, cheese and charcuterie was perfect. Recommended!
