We visit Estelle and Bill at least twice a year and have for over 10 years and they have never failed to greet us and feed us wonderfully. Their menu is simple but well cooked and presented. When we take our grand children they treat...them as if they are their own. There is no question we will be back time and time again.More
We have been visiting Estelle and 'Bill's' for over 10 years and are now greeted like old friends. The menu is simple but very well prepared and presented from Bill's kitchen and served by Estelle with calm efficiency. Hidden away but very worthwhile searching out.
We did have a little trouble locating this hotel but are we glad we did. It is tucked down a track and our SATnav did not seen able locate it. However, we are so glad that we eventually found it. We were greeted by our...smiling host. Our room was upstairs, very clean and oh so comfy! We wanted to eat in the restaurant but we're not put under any pressure to do so. After a wander around Honfleur we returned for dinner. It was absolutely wonderful. Great cuisine, beautifully cooked and served with a smile. Our host was English speaking and this helped us to understand the complexities of the menu. An evening meal to remember! A good night's sleep meant we were back in the restaurant for our scrumptious breakfast. The stay was a super ending to our two week holiday and we will certainly return as soon as possible.More
We were lucky enough time get a table on the same day as our visit to Honfleur and we were not disappointed . The place is a little difficult to find and doesn't promise much from the outside but once you enter it's a much...different story. The dining room is elegant, warm and welcoming..a great start. This hotel/restaurant is run by an obviously passionate and hardworking couple. Madame was very helpful with my elderly parents and we had a truly delicious and fresh meal. The prices are very reasonable for this standard of food and I only wish we lived closer so we could return often. Bravo! Ne changer rien!More
This restaurant was recommended by the owner of Coup de Fourchette, also in La Rivière Saint Sauveur, as his was fully booked (see review) The setting is very rural although it is only 3km from the centre of Honfleur. Access is via a 200m narrow...track arriving at a parking area a few steps from the hotel (10 bedrooms) and restaurant entrance. We were greeted and seated by Estelle in the contemporarily decorated dining area. The other diners, as they arrived, included French and English families. Low key jazz music in the background broke the initial quiet whilst we we contemplating the blackboard menu over Kir Normand apéritifs. From the menu it is also possible to order a 3 course 'formule' of 3 prices (€22,24,27) the difference depending on the choice of main course. The terrine starter, chicken and cod dishes, prepared by Guillaume, were excellent, complemented by a good selection of local desserts. The wine list was short but good value ranging from glasses, through carafes of different sizes to full bottles. The ambience and the service was friendly and welcoming and the setting, especially in the evening sunshine, was glorious. A chance choice but an excellent one.More

We were spending a short week in Calvados in a Gites close to the small town of La Riviere Saint Sauver not far from Honfleur. La Fraichette was a recommended restaurant by the Owner of the Gîte and on our last evening we made a...reservation and drove the 5-6 minutes to the restaurant as it was a pleasant summer's evening and warm we ate outside on the terrace, there were three other tables occupied by other couple but each table was away from its neighbour to allow decent privacy. The menu formula is interesting on a blackboard the pricing being of A, B or C from a selected menu, which doesn't have a great number of choices for you to be spoilt but the choices are well selected. Our main course was unusual for us as it was Brochette d' Andouillette pole; we both like Andouillette, which is normally grilled served with a mustard sauce, but this was different and was magnificent, two brochettes with three slices of Andouillette that had been gently cooked poèle (in the frying pan) together with a dauphinoise of courgettes. The andouillette was perhaps the best I have ever eaten in France, perhaps because Normandy is the ancestral home of Andouillette and gently à la poèle was a crowning glory. To finish the meal we had Apple Crumble and Vanilla Ice Cream an excellent choice, the apples fondant and the crumble memorable to the palette. An excellent restaurant, gentle family service and as La Fraichette is also an hotel an excellent complement to the ensemble. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and it was a fitting tribute to the gastronomic delights of Normandy, we were sorry to be leaving and returning to our home in Lorraine. Best have a GPS or a mapping App on your smartphone as although signposted the last 150 metres could be exciting if you met a car coming the other way, the road is only wide enough for two horses or two bicycles but not for two cars )))More
