Came back with friends to this restaurant where we had great memories from the time the father operated this restaurant. Now the son is in charge and lacks of service and hospitality knowledge. Food was average. The service and presentation of the duck were absolutely appalling and without care. The restaurant was full and I believe the son is still... More

Celebrated the end of a contract with Peking Duck. Recommended as "the best place for Peking Duck" in Melbourne (at a reasonable price). Duck was good. Service average. Surroundings Cheap.

Went for a quick meal with my husband. We asked for the duck pancakes as part of our dinner selection. Our waitress took the order but neglected to let us know that you can't have just the duck pancakes - you have to have the whole duck. The duck was not very warm and once carved was placed onto a... The duck is including one duck soup and fried noodle. The duck was really delicious, but sometimes they did forgot to sent the soup 😂 have to remind them.

The Peking Duck & accompanying pancakes were barely warm. The duck was overcooked and had been sitting outside of the oven instead of being served crisp and fresh. The service was slow and ordinary and the duck was not carved at the table. The soup was flavourless and the pork spare ribs consisted of greasy microwaved rubbish. You could not... More

The peking duck is very tasty and succulent. Had 3 ducks for a table of seven. Had their noodles too, not bad. Restaurant , typical chinese restaurant, noisy. Very old furnishing, and pack. Toilets situated upstairs. Floor( wooden flooring) was slippery(oily) when I walked upstairs to go to the toilets

Yes this restaurant was the same as the usual Chinese restaurant. After reading reviews re the Peking Duck we expected something super special but were disappointed. Very ordinary and badly served. Not enough staff, noise level shocking, too crowded (on a Tuesday night) and why oh why weren't we advised when we made our booking that it is a CASH... More

This place is quite good; the duck is reasonably cheap (around $60 a duck) and very delicious; the meat is incredibly succulent, the pancakes wafer thin and the trimmings (cucumber and onion) are pre portioned, so you can make your wrap to suit. The duck also comes with 2 extra courses; stir-fried bean shoots with duck meat, as well as... More

I've lost count on how many times we've been here for their Peking Ducks in the last two decades. Uncle Simon used to own and run this place, not much from the outside, messy, old, plain and dirty, prerequisite of a great traditional Chinese restaurant. But their Peking Ducks wrapped with their hand-made thin, fluffy/doughy skin is simply one of... More

Was staying down the road and craving duck. Found this place via a 'near me' search. Very happy. Especially like the duck being sliced in front of us. Delicious meal. All three duck dishes were good. Would definitely go back again. Has a good old feel to the place too. Don't expect a shiny modern fitout. Just good old tasty... More

Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
