Cramped, noisy, eccentric & fabulous. A truly enjoyable Melbourne experience. Most of all, each of our 3 mains was absolutely delish.

Nice atmosphere, tasty food, awesome live french music, very attentive waiters (I think they are the owners as well).

I always come here when were in Melbourne La Niche is one of my favourite restaurant in Melbourne, I love french food and to get it in Australia tasting better than in France is quite impressive. Very good wine list and traditional french food with a twist. yum. Highly recommended.

A small French style cafe serving traditional French cuisine. Seating for only about 20, live music when we were there. Hearty and tasty dishes. Charcuterie plate to start which was mainly cheese, pate and salmon roulette. A good starter to share. Duck and beef burgundy for mains, both very tasty. Can recommend the la Grande tour cab-sav to go with... More

What a stellar find. The perfect place for a relaxed brunch. Try the cassoulet. Tres magnifique. Easy acces via the 86 tram.

Wow! This place is INCROYABLE. Great coffee, lovely staff, beautifully created atmosphere, kitsch French decor and truly delicious food (we opted for the tartiflette and "Le Pêcheur" - both were divine). Not only will l be back, I'll be back regularly. In fact, I'm already planning my next visit.

An iconic Smith Street cafe, genuine Breton food and atmosphere, the postcards add to the flavour. The clientele are a veritable whose who of this funky inner city suburb of Fitzroy. No wonder Jack Irish never left the area. A great place for coffee or to enjoy the menu.

You could easily walk past this place and never know it was there. The interior has several quirkily decorated rooms. Service is friendly and the food from the limited menu is very good, if a little pricey. Keep up to date with what's on offer via their Facebook page. If you're pining for a little taste of France this is... More
