Delighted the sea food chowder here was gluten free as I have had a run of bad luck with other venues not being able to serve Coeliac's chowder. It was one of the best sea food chowders I have had...probably in years, full of chunky fish pieces and really creamy, I intend to travel out of my way in the future just to return for the chowder :) Lovely set up inside, fire was on, very reasonably priced, the staff were attentive and friendly. Caffrey's is one to pop in to.

We had our sons christening in Caffreys in Aug 2023. Words cannot justify how brilliant Gerry and all the team were to us all. Wonderfully accommodating venue with fabulous staff. The entire team went above and beyond before and on the day of the christening. We booked the function room which is beautifully laid out and very spacious. The team were so accommodating letting us decorate; even allowing us to start the day before which really a godsend on the day. We were catered to phenomenally on the day and the food was out of this world as always and so reasonably priced too. I couldn’t recommend Caffreys enough as a venue for any family/work function.

Usually, it is a nice evening out - Pity I have to report poor service Made a return visit at end of June ’23 to dine with guests - I was expecting a pleasant experience. Staff got Drinks Order wrong – 1 person left short a soft drink, it never arrived in the end, I had to get it myself from the Bar. The exact same thing happened when Dinner was being served – 1 person’s Main Course was omitted and we waited quite a while before it arrived I asked for a Refill of Water, which was not forthcoming, in the end, I had to get it myself from the Bar. A new member of staff was working behind the Bar – the unfortunate chap just had not received adequate training Main Courses were good but some vegetables were tough to digest. " Pull up your socks"

I'm sorry but this place is quite over rated. Eye wateringly expensive. €8.20 for a beer. €20 for a dry "halfpound" burger that was clearly a reheat. Soggy batter on the expensive fish dish. I'm not sure this food is cooked on site, even the chips were like dry cardboard. Felt like they'd been reheated multiple times. It's Dublin city prices ffor below average fare. We were in at a quiet time and service was ok but the place was still empty. In summary it's a nice ambient and staff are ok but the food is just not good and it's extremely expensive for what it is

I visited Caffery’s last Friday March 10th with my husband and two other couples for a relaxed friends get together. We dine out regularly and are accustomed to dining prices especially the increases we are all experiencing these days. However nothing prepared me for the ‘ daylight robbery’ of what Caffery’s is charging for food and especially drinks in what is, at the end of the day, a Pub setting. All food is over priced, e.g. €13 for tempura prawn starter. We didn’t do starters. My green Thai prawn curry was €24, on the high end but just about acceptable except I counted 5 prawns. The curry however tasted nice and all other food tasted good but expensive for what it was. On top of this drinks were astronomical expensive €7 for a pint of Carlsberg and, wait for it, €12 for a baby bottle of Prosecco (€3.75 in Tesco, surely €9 would have been enough to make a hearty profit?). To ‘ add insult to injury’ the waitress spilled a pint of larger all over my friend, her dress was saturated, and all over our coats which were placed on the chair beside us. My coat was drenched in beer. They of course apologised, wiped down the coat with water and replaced the ONE pint they spilled. Accidents do happen however there was no offer of a free round of drinks to compensate or a reduction in our bill which came to €287. At that price we could have had a better dining experience elsewhere and gone home dry with no dry cleaning bill! As it happens I’m taking a rare Spa break with my daughter this week, at a prestigious Co. Meath estate, and checking out their ‘Gastro Pub’ prices to compare I’m delighted to see that they are much more reasonably priced. I don’t know what Caffery’s think they are providing for the prices they are charging but it wasn’t on evidence last Friday evening and I will not be back. Insult to injury was the drenching in beer without any significant customer care!

For a place that had it all it has literally fallen apart. I had a bad experience back in Feb 23 and just put it down to a bad day but my visit today was absolutely terrible. We were seated outside which we didn’t have a great issue with until we had to constantly get up to go in and ask for menu’s or high chairs or cutlery after the food came out. 6 times we had to go inside to ask for menus, cutlery, even the bill, twice! 3 staff members apologies as I think they know it’s been ran badly, the manager spoke very rudely when I asked for a high chair and made him aware it was our 3rd time asking for it. We ordered the kids food first as we were meant to be getting moved inside but after waiting 40 minutes and the food was still not there we opted to order a takeaway for ourselves and left without eating. Doesn’t say a lot for the restaurant. There are in a prime location for a lot of people in a 5km radius so they get business regardless of service. Prices wouldn’t bother me but have had better service and care in KFC. Have never ever before left a review on a restaurant in my life but todays experience was that awful I couldn’t not say anything.

I went here with my wife and at first the place looked nice but the second we sat down the waiter seemed rude and like they didn't want to be there. I got the cod which was cold and definitely not fresh and my wife got the roast which was dry cold and the roast potatoes was soggy. The owner was no help. You honestly ruined mine and my wifes anniversary. I highly wouldn't recommend here

We went here for dinner yesterday 05th Feb 2023 a family of 5, 4 adults and 1 child at 18.00. We had booked a table, and to be fair it was a Bank Holiday Sunday and Caffreys was very busy. I have no problem with any of the staff, they were run of their feet but all remained cheerful and did their best. We ordered drinks as soon as we sat down however it was at least 20 minutes before we received them, this is not acceptable. Myself and my wife had What was described on the menu as " Breast of chicken stuffed with mushrooms with a sauce of Peas and choriso, with mashed potato and veg. There were no mushrooms, the chicken was very small, dry and overcooked, the sauce was cold and frozen peas were used. Mashed potatoe was cold and old, the veg was fine Cabbage and carrots, but all in all awful, as bad as we have had anywhere priced at 26 euro per dish. The fish and chips were fine, but the ribs were cold and not at all good. 233 euro for four adults and a child including a round of drinks we never ordered. First time at Caffreys and most certainly the last. My advice avoid it even if it means finding a chipper, the food will most definately be better than Caffreys.

Unbelievably expensive for what we got! 7 chicken wings for €11 with a tiny dip! I ordered the chicken supreme for €26 which basically a piece of chicken on the bone with some mushrooms dotted around and a very bland sauce! My partner got the roast beef which was nice but again way overpriced at €22 for a couple of slices of beef! We didn’t get deserts! The non alcohol beer was priced at €7.20 and the ordinary beer was priced at 7.70! The same drinks are €10.50 a couple of miles down the road in trim! All in all it was very overpriced for what we got!!! I definitely won’t be back!

Hi we visited Caffrey’s on Sunday 5th Nov 2023 at about 4.30 pm. Had chicken wings for starters I didn’t love the sauce but my other half did only complaint was not enough sauce on the side for dipping. For mains my husband had the best lamb shank either of us have had in ages. I decided on a starter portion of nachos, didn’t realise it was vegetarian so no meat!! .. also nachos were home made & deep fried with bits of sour cream, guacamole dotted around the plate with mozzarella cheese on top, anyway an observant member of a staff asked if everything was ok & said I wasn’t really enjoying it. Without hesitation he said he’d get me get me the menu & see if there was anything else I wanted to order . Picked out a lovely warm goats salad.. this is probably the best service from a member of staff who realised that I wasn’t enjoying my food & wanted to help in any restaurant or hotel that I’ve visited in the last 8 yrs… I’ll definitely be back because of this service & fab food

Have been driving past this place for decades and decided to stop last Friday coming back from Dublin. I always though it was just a pub that served food. Its much more than that. Walking into the lounge is like walking into a high class restaurant in the city. The layout, decor and lighting is excellent. We got a table quickly and the service was prompt. I had the wings for starters and they were some of the best wings I've ever had. Both crisp and juicy. Had the Thai Red Curry for main and it was delicious. The only regret I have is that I've been driving past this place for years. I'll be stopping here again soon.

We were a large group so service was a little slow, as we had anticipated before we booked. Some of our guests received comprehensive and tasty meals, Carvery Beef and Turkey which were delicious. Others received just fish and the chips spilled as the plate was put in front of my husband, no veg, mushy peas nothing, for nearly €20 we expected more. Another one of our guests just got slice of beef and a few veg and a small potato. Overall, it was very hit and miss as regards portions and a filling lunch/dinner for the prices being charged. It drives me nuts that kids got 3 chicken nuggets with chips - not a veg in sight!. We will return but not with a large group. Staff a really nice and helpful but there are a few small tweaks that could be made to improve the overall dining experience.

We had my step dads funeral in Caffrey’s on Wednesday.. we told them, although hard to judge but we expected approx 40 people back for soup and sandwiches but delighted to have 85 people and that didn’t phase the staff at all at Caffrey’s. They looked after us so well, made sure everyone was seated and served..looked after dietary needs at last min, handed out extra sandwiches when needed.. staff were so friendly and helpful…starting with John who we spoke to on Sunday to book it and especially Elanna (probably spelt wrong sorry) who couldn’t of been any nicer, more professional or more helpful. A really lovely country pub, with a great feel to the place and we definitely will be back..thank you so much for all you did.x

Very over priced, I got the roast beef... All I had was 2 qscoops of potatoes.. 2 slices of beef and 2 pieces of carrot with some cabbage, at 28 euro for this and starter of chicken wings its very expensive, also the drinks are Dublin City prices at 6 50 for a pint of Guinness, we had a large group and there was some confusion with the bill, in which there was 1 added kids burger which was obviously a mistake.. Throughout the meal there where courses brought that weren't ordered and returned so I had a feeling the bill would be a mess. Our bill was well over 500 euro and the fuss that was made over it including a couple of smart comments from the manager didn't go down very well, the staff where overwhelmed with a large group but we had asked about this when booking, there was also a big fuss as we wanted to pay for drinks separate to the meal to avoid confusion with who ordered what but this seemed to also annoy the manager quite a bit. Overpriced, and the food was not up to scratch at all in comparison to other places in the area. Won't be returning

Totally gone down hill, table booked for 6pm, eventually got served at 8, 2 hours wait, drink order wrong, food order wrong, food cold, had to be returned, so disappointed as had taken my father for Father’s Day. Glasses falling off bar as bar was so full of empty glasses and no one was cleaning it!!! Extremely dangerous with young kids around.
