Had our evening meal here as we were staying in the stables the night on our way to cornwall . Good home cooked food nice friendly staff dogs welcome , very busy considering your in the middle of nowhere .

Delicious pies, grills and roasts are always provided at this friendly, characterful pub. This is not a gastro pub but offers good size portions of well cooked food. For me the highlight was the classic Eton Mess. As good as I have had anywhere. Note that they are closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes.

14 people birthday meal,food was good ,my steak and ale pie was nice but salty?portion size was good,but need to put everything like veg on one plate,it came separately and had to wait quite a while but all in all was good
What is on offer here is good quality pub food served in generous portions. My tip is to just have a main course otherwise there will be no room for a pudding. stayed 2 nights and found the rooms clean and comfortable, had a shower and a bath and water hot! complimentary tea coffee biscuits etc. Pub has a conservatory where you can enjoy a drink and also a meal. keep off the locally brewed Blackmoor cider,,, its very strong and was £3 a pint when I was there.
