My Wife and I ate here whilst staying at the Alveston Hotel. The food was excellent! I had a beautiful tender steak and my wife opted for the vegetarian option. Both extremely happy and will return.

We had a delicious meal here, lovely canapés, tasty mushroom starter and cracking surf and turf - tender fillet steak cooked rare as requested with lovely crunchy chipped potatoes. We took advantage of a promotional deal, it would have been expensive otherwise. The restaurant was busy but the wine waiter and waitresses were all friendly and helpful. A memorable evening,... I have reviewed this restaurant as part of the hotel review. The food is excellent. Their AA rosette awards since 2009 are very well deserved. The waiting staff friendly and knowledgeable. I would return here in a heartbeat.

Only one word to describe Sunday Lunch with my family today - perfection in every way. Roast beef lunch surpassed expectations and hurray a truly different vegetarian choice for my husband, the Brie and Vegetable Wellington was wonderful and he felt he had had a Sunday lunch as opposed to the normal bowl of pasta offered at other venues. Just... More

A small but thoughtful menu is accompanied by a great wine list and served to you by attentive and knowledgable staff. The quality was super and not a morsel was left over. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If in the area and you want a good quality meal and a fair price go here.

I ate here when I stayed at the hotel. The staff were friendly, well trained and professional. The conservatory was a nice place to sit and peruse the menu. The 2 canapes were delicious. The food was delicious and well presented. Service was excellent.

Excellent choice on the menu in all respects. Not too fussy or overcomplicated. Classy decor and good service. The food is very well presented and expertly cooked, but I still feel that it is a little overpriced. It is one step away from being top class, but seems to be held back by its association as the Alveston House hotel's... More

Very tidy venue with friendly staff, who were happy to serve us lunch at 1.45pm. Food was good but the overall price for two meals (two courses), three sparkling waters and two coffees was GBP 47.50, which seemed a little steep.

We knew nothing about Carriages restaurant when, tired and hungry, we piled in, right at the end of service, hoping for something halfway decent. We were pleasantly surprised by the amuse-bouches. Both the ravioli and the fillet steak main were delightful, and the chocolate orange fondant with pistachios was superb, right up there with the very best. Overall, I couldn't... More
