Went to lunch on Saturday and was very impressed. The food was fabulous and the sea bass was out of this world. The menu is extensive and is a must visit for sea food lovers. Our server Leah was attentive and courteous and knowledgeable of...the local area.More

We decided to take the trip up to linnanes over the weekend with a group of friends . A local food truck is located in the carpark, which we decided against as we wanted to have some proper restaurant food. Lots of parking which is...always a good start.Since our last visit, the first thing we all noticed was the big price increases across the whole menu, with some dishes up a few euro. Crab cakes are no longer available but fish cakes instead. You really cant compare. They must be trying to make up for lost income with price increases and using cheap alternatives . I had the fish & chips for mains, Chips were undercooked, mushy peas were cold and the fish was soggy, with oil dripping all over it and tasteless. Hard to believe, but everything that could go wrong with the dish did.The chef obviously just threw it straight in the fryer from the freezer .Some dishes at the table were just about ok, others just not up to the standard of a so called “FRESH SEAFOOD restaurant”. The service isn’t great at all.The staff were very young, untrained , ignorant and unprofessional. Not only for our table but for those sitting around us.
The whole atmosphere is affected by this. It makes it feel like they want you in, served, get your money and get you out again quickly. Management wonder around chatting with local people they know, and simply ignore everyone else. Not something you would associate with a restaurant in the west of Ireland. Nobody even noticed or cared that we didn’t enjoy our food.In the end, we would have been better sitting in our car and having food at the local fish van. Sad really as none of us will ever return!!!More

Service was incredibly erratic. A table who arrived 5 minutes after us had both a starter and main course before our food arrived - remarkable given we ordered before them. The location is excellent it is a pity that there is a bit of a...limited menu. My wife’s dinner arrived cold, the seafood chowder was tasty and decent but not superb, the kid dinners were ok. They could do with a day trip to research the likes of O Grady’s on the pier in Barna to see what the possibilities could be explored. We won’t be in a rush back as it is quite out of the way.More

Arranged to meet a friend for a stroll on the nearby Flaggy Shore followed by lunch in Linnane’s Seafood restaurant. The service was top class; we were served by Leah who was very efficient & could not do enough to help. The portion of fish...cakes was very generous & was accompanied with a tasty salad. Leah also recommended the house Pinot Grigio which was the perfect complement to our meal. Would highly recommend Linnane’s & will definitely be going back there!More

The location was nice. Good parking.Inside we were given a table with the view of the inlet. We chose off the menu. I had the goat’s cheese, which was nice. It came with just the right amount of salad.. What I wasn’t expecting was the...next course, which came with about twice as much again of the same salad and no fries. I had to eventually borrow some fries. The fish cakes were good but unremarkable for a so-called premium seafood restaurant. My wife had the fish and chips, which again could have been from a downtown Limerick restaurant. We did enjoy the experience, but we would question whether it is worth driving up from Limerick, particularly in these times of extreme prices at the pump. I despair at the homogeneity of restaurants, particularly since the pandemic. It is rare to find a really unique restaurant.. Linane’s has the potential but the chef doesn’t exploit the location.More

Arrived without a reservation on a Saturday evening at 8:30pm and the place was absolutely packed. But Mark was so helpful and welcoming and promised us dinner if we could wait half an hour. Suffice it to say both the salmon and the sea bream...were delicious and we’d definitely go back!More

Stopped off for a quick lunch after doing seaweed baths. The staff were very friendly, the Guinness tasted of more and the food was delicious. We both had fish and chips, cooked to perfection and the mint pea purée was excellent. Will be back

Husband had the Fish & Chips, hake was fresh and tasty, chips soggy, mushy peas were actually crushed peas and smeared across the plate, dried up and not a good look! I had the fish cakes, they were nice, tasty and filling but the accompanying...salad was dire. Old, wilted and thrown on the plate. The whole meal was totally underwhelming and overpriced. Shame.More

Both my partner and I went to the bar at Linnanes one lovely evening for drinks. When I was eventually served one of the glasses was dirty. I returned to counter and asked the same man who served me initially, who I understood to be...the manager, if I could have the drink in a clean glass. He took the glass from me, VERY OBVIOUSLY ANNOYED, held it up to examine it and LEANED over the counter to me and said into my face 'it's only a bit of splash from the Guinness. NO big deal, it is only a bit of splash from the Guinness.' I was Stunned at his aggression towards me., I was unable to respond to him. I took the new drink and returned to my table. My lovely day was ruined by his ignorance. I sincerely hope nobody else is treated like this and if they are, they have the strength to point out that this sort of behaviour to customers is not good enough.More

Was really looking forward to going to Linnane's. Booked a table in advance and it was a beautiful sunny day. Couldnt wait to sample the food and I was hungry! I went for the crab claws and fish and chips. The crab claws were 24...euro. OK, so no one forced me to order them but I love crab claws and said id give them a whirl. Boy were they small claws and quite bland. Not a great start. About 40 mins later the main course arrived, fish n chips (hake). It was ok - the minted peas seemed like they had been on the plate a while - they had started to harden. The batter was, again a bit flavourless but my fish was reasonably fresh and light. However, my wife also ordered the same thing and hardly touched it depsite loving hake. I tasted hers, it was like eating a different type of fish altogether. Hers was leathery and just not good. At that point we just didnt bother saying anything because the experience was dragging and just got the vibe that no one was going to care whatsoever... Between the starter and the main, the waitress who took our order and brought our starter asked if wanted desert. I told her we hadn't had ours mains yet? I asked what looked like the manager for cutlery. Nothing came. So I asked another passing waitress. Still nothing came so after about 5 mins I just walked up to where they have cutlery and took some myself. Not the end of the world - at all, but all things add up and the service overall was sloppy and highly disorganised. Just got the feeling like the staff didnt really care and there was an understandable air of complacency - due to the reputation of the place and little or no competition for miles. The bill arrived and was fairly steep. Maybe we just got an on off-day, but you know that feeling when you walk out of a place disappointed and a bit ripped off...More

I am so sorry, but Linnane's is on the South side of Galway bay and a very long way from Westport and Clew bay, so I cannot help. But I wish you a great holiday. best,Ian
