We were recently taken to The Ship by some friend. The approach was inviting, once inside the atmosphere was lovely. the local area is beautiful and the pub is next to a small river which would make a summer visit even more enjoyable as they have a nice looking garden. The menu was very well presented with plenty to choose... More

Back for Sunday lunch again - has to be one of the best anywhere. Roast beef beautifully cooked and an enormous serving of vegetables with giant Yorks pud. The roaring open fire was just what we needed after a cold drive. Highly recommended.

This is a recently restored 'hidden gem' off the A30 'beaten track', just west of Wilton. It has been under new management team for the past eighteen month; they are aiming to establish a reputation for serving reasonably priced, good well-cooked food in pleasant country-pub surroundings. I think that they are succeeding. We were given a friendly personal welcome by... More

We stayed at nearby Burcombe Manor and they recommended the pub for dinner. The hosts are hilarious and very welcoming. The meals are enormous and good value for money. Hearty English pub food done well.

We stayed locally and ate here. The food was good and we enjoyed it. The barman was relatively new and was rushing about , he was extremely helpful and pleasant and we enjoyed our night

We recently went to The Ship for a family get together, the atmosphere was lovely with a roaring fire and the place itself is set in beautiful country side. The menu was very well presented and plenty to choose from, certainly enough to tempt our return. We all had starters which were delightful, all well presented and extremely tasty. The... More

I visited the Ship Inn a few weeks ago for a family Sunday lunch, The food was excellent, roast beef cooked to perfection, as was the veg. A large plateful and very good value.

Right down the road from Burcombe Manor. We pulled up and the flowers and grounds are really attractive. We thought nice looking Pub. We found out its more than a pub. Food, staff, atmosphere, and a huge St. Bernard dog were great. Instead of going into Tavistock for dinner the next night, we went back to the Ship Inn and... More

Another outstanding Sunday lunch. This has to be the best roast you can get without a doubt. This lovely country pub was buzzing as always on a Sunday (be sure to book) but the quality of food and service never fails to impress. The lovely big open fire is just the place for a coffee after dinner to relax and... More

Description
Following reopening the pub has now been restored to its former glory of many years ago before closure. A complete and thorough tasteful refurbishment inside and out retaining the original character of the building and returning it to its rightful place as the village pub. The wonderfull but neglected garden is now a delight for all featuring fabulous flower displays, a well stocked waterfall fed pond leading down to the mill stream at the bottom of the garden. A quintessential english pub with local beers, renowned wines and spirits and of course food produced from fresh local produce and all prepared to order - a rarity in todays world.
