What a fantastic restaurant. Had a swim on the nearby beach followed by a seafood platter with a lovely glass of white wine. I asked for gluten free bread with my platter and without me asking they changed my fish gougons to gluten free batter which were devine. The mussels were so tasty. The service was great. Courtmacsherry is the place to visit.

We dined outside overlooking Courtmacsherry harbour as it was a fabulous Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed the Fish & Chips - the lightest I have ever tasted. In addition, the Scampi were scrumptious and the Crab on Brown Bread waas delicious. The Goat's Cheese Tart was also a hit. Our kids enjoyed their Goujons. It was a wonderful tasty lunch, staff were very efficient and wore masks albeit we were outdoors. We cannot wait to return soon. A super lunch in a picturesque setting.

Visited in September 2020, really enjoyed the experience from start to finish. We felt it was a very safe environment and covid guidelines we're been followed by all staff. The menu consisted of great quality ingredients and reasonably priced. It's a tough time for the hospitality industry right now but Im looking forward to returning to the Lifeboat Inn someday

This place looked great and I'm sure the food is lovely but we never got to eat as we had to leave after waiting too long to be served. Firstly, we had to approach the waitress to ask if we could sit. We got the sense we would have been waiting around. We chose to sit outdoors as it was a lovely evening but we got completely ignored by all the staff. We realised most other people had no food and people who arrived after us ended up getting menus before us. Unfortunately we had a young toddler who needed to eat and we just felt it was going to be a very long wait so after maybe 25mins we left. No staff member came over to us at all. you can tell when staff actively avoid eye contact because they are too busy. But all they had to do is welcome you, show you where to sit, ask us what we would like to drink and explain there may be a wait of X amount of time as its busy and leave you with a menu to study. And at least if you know how long it might be you can politely leave and say it doesn't suit.

I booked an early table for my partner and I on a recent visit to Courtmacsherry and we were both really looking forward to it. Here's a brief rundown of our experience. On arrival there was no hand sanitiser in the station outside. Luckily we had a small bottle with us and offered it to a fellow diner. The decor was warm and tasteful but we received a lukewarm welcome by the owner (David I believe). He brought us to our table and barely made conversation. We could deal with that but unbelievably he was not wearing a face mask or visor. We watched as he served meals and took away emply plates, all the while leaning over people without any protection. Other members of staff wore face masks so I'm not sure why he wasn't. Apart from that there was no sanitisers on the tables which is a HSE recommendation and something we saw in every other establishment on out trip. We witnessed a couple walk in and stand at the bar talking with neither wearing masks. To top it all off there was no contact tracing which is completely unacceptable. The tables were nowhere near the recommended distance. We ate and left well within or 105 minutes as the lack of Covid awareness was shocking.
Ok the good....we ordered the seafood platter and really enjoyed it. In saying that, I've enjoyed plenty of other seafood platters. The young waitress was very friendly and the outside area was a lovely spot to finish our wine.
Courtmacsherry is a lovely little place and somewhere I would definitely return to. Sadly as this appears to be the only restaurant in the town (apart from the very pleasant hotel), people have very little to choose from. I found it overrated and overpriced and definitely would not return

We visited the Lifeboat Inn for my father’s birthday lunch. My sister lives locally and recommended it. She wasn’t wrong.
We had a lovely warm welcome from our waitress and seated at our table. She explained the roast and catch of the day, and took a drinks order, before returning with the water carafe to take our food order. Their wine list is pretty good. We had a couple of glasses of the NZ Sauvignon Blanc while my Dad had his pint of Heineken.
So far, so good — great service, great ambience but gosh, what a treat when the food arrived. My starter was outstanding. I had the warm black pudding and crispy hen’s egg starter and followed this with the roast, which was a pork stuffed with black pudding, served with champ and seasonal vegetables. The red wine jus was so good.
I was quite full so only had a scoop of salted caramel ice cream with hot chocolate sauce. It was stunning. My husband had the scampi starter and catch of the day, followed by the Guinness chocolate cake. He was raving about it!
All in all, a lovely lunch! Great food, great service — what more do you need?

We were thoroughly looking forward to returning to enjoy our family Sunday lunch , we were not disappointed. We enjoyed Fish and Chips, Open Crab Sandwich and the kids enjoyed their goujons and fish and chips. All were thoroughly delicious, enjoyed even more by the Walnut Black Marlborough. To top it off the Lemon Posset was so zingy and light and the cheese board was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed the views as we sipped our coffee. We all enjoyed our wonderful lunch and can't wait to return.

The Lifeboat Inn is a beautiful setting and we'll worth a trip. The weather was beautiful so we sat in the beer garden.
We had fish and chips and seafood platter. The fish and chips was so fresh and tasty, the chips we're to die for!!!
The seafood platter had a great selection of irish seafood including mussels, oysters, crab, smoked salmon.
We shared the guinness chocolate cake for dessert, which was also very enjoyable.
Everything we ate was of good quality and the staff are very friendly

Myself and my mother ate here during our holidays. Our starters of the black pudding salad and pork belly croquettes were to die for! For mains my mother had the steak and it was cooked to perfection! I had the mussels which were also delicious. Both the staff and food were exceptional! We will be returning and recommending this restaurant to others travelling to the area.
Thank you for a lovely evening.

Being meaning to try this place for a while, we decided to wait till summer ended. We booked for lunch and were not disappointed, both mains were mouthwatering, we normally don't do deserts, but the homemade apple crumble was delicious.
Service was absolutely flawless, two nice server's were on duty, supervised by one of the owners, the other owner is in the kitchen.
All in all its a beautiful restaurant in a fabulous location. It's a credit to the owners. Well done guys 👏 👏.
Thanks for a great lunch.
Highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

We dined here recently to mark a few family celebrations. We were a large group and were shown the large comfortable seating area on the left. Unfortunately the music choice was both loud and poor, need to improve as we couldn't really hear each other talk. We enjoyed Catch of the Day - Hake which was really delicious, the Fish & Chips and Chicken Burger were tasty too. I enjoyed my Chicken stuffed with Black Pudding and the kids loved their lunch. However, the kids were served about 20 minutes before the adults which we would not recommend. This is too long between adults and kids courses. For dessert, the lemon posset was heaven and the tiramisu was light and delightful. All topped off with nice coffees. We look forward to returning to the outside area the next time.

We visited for a birthday meal and were delighted with the warm welcome and cozy setting with the stove lighting. The menu differed from that on the website so we unfortunately could not order the fish and chips. We had to settle with Cajun chicken burgers (€19 each) and curries.. both very overpriced for what we got which was a shame. Cajun burger was on the basic side.. bun, chicken breast, little lettuce and two slices of tomato with small side of fries. A little more thought could have gone in to make this a €19 burger! Tiramisu dessert was amazing and well priced.

Fantastic experience in The Lifeboat Inn! Visited with two teenagers one who has a nut allergy and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. The scallop starter was beautiful and the holiday ambiance made the whole experience a day to remember! Tables appropriately distanced,
the staff were excellent and all wore masks. Thanks guys.

My wife and I thought that the food served was of an acceptable quality other than the locally caught beer batter coated haddock.
The under side was extremely greasy as if it had been laying in cooking oil and not properly drained.
The chips were fine though as was the mushy peas too.
The overall design of the restaurant is quaint but dated and the cleanliness needs to be paid better attention to.
The staff were not particularly unfriendly but indifferent making us feel that we were just another two tourists who would not be back again.
I assume they treat local regular customers a lot better but thats just an assumption.
Value for money on a scale of 1 to 10 maybe a 7 but overall I think the restaurant is over rated through it’s advertising on social media rather than genuine reviews.
Would we return should we go to Ireland again? Probably not as there was simply no wow factor experienced at all.
