From our covid check in to receipt of our bill everything was top class , our food was prepared and presented to a high standard , our waiting staff were attentive and friendly , a really enjoyable experience. A nice wine choice.
As it says on the tin it on the pier, however, we went at night so not much to see. There is an upstairs area for diners which II imagine would be great if you went for lunch and wanted a view. One of our...party was in a wheelchair and, although they had a ramp into the restaurant, we couldn't get a wheelchair into the toilet facilities.
Have to take into consideration that we are just coming out of a pandemic so I didn't expect a full menu but the selection was good.
I had the seabass and it was very good. One of us ordered the Salmon and that was huge so if you don't have a big appetite ask first. The others had the steak and no complaints there.
Good wine selection and friendly service. A little pricey for the selection but I am taking into consideration that we're fresh out of lockdown. The average rating seems a little low for the potential when things get busier. All in all we had a nice family night out and would definitely return.More
O’Gradys has always been the culinary highlight of any visit to Galway for me, for the last twenty years. Regrettably, I will think twice or maybe three times before returning again on my next visit. Having considered their online menu I was looking forward to...their oysters and seafood platter or perhaps some fresh crab or lobster. Unfortunately, none of it was available on the night I attended with my wife and daughter. Neither of whom had been before and they had high expectations, based on my previous experiences.
More disappointing though was the surly, uninterested attitude of our male waiter.
We weren’t invited to order any pre-dinner drinks but when I ordered Hendricks and Tonic for the three of us he nonchalantly explained he didn’t have any nice glasses or cucumber, so did I still want them!!! Maybe he was just trying to manage our expectation. We accepted them regardless in straight glasses with a lemon wedge. They were unremarkable.
When asked about the possibility of any seafood for dinner (as it wasn’t on the printed menus we had) he said, no!
It had always been the combination of excellent food and service that had drawn me back time and again, year after year. Regardless of the high quality chowder, gambas, hake and steak dishes that we reluctantly ordered, the service really let the whole experience down. At 50 euro per head, including drinks, it was not overly expensive nor cheap, but figure in the 50 euro round trip taxi from the city and I probably wouldn’t bother again. Certainly not before checking if the self proclaimed “oyster and seafood bar” actually had any oysters and seafood.
Our experience at their sister restaurant 2 days earlier was far superior. They actually had oyster and seafood on the menu, ( which were excellent) and the staff were all delightful.
Really disappointing O’Gradys.More
We were disappointed having read the ratings and the reviews. Who serves sole on the bone with boiled potatoes and carrots & parsnips?! And then to be told we couldn’t have a drink in the bar downstairs when others who were waiting on a taxi...were having a drink there?! We had just dropped €300 in their restaurant till! Over-rated. Quite frankly we had far better and service in gastro-pubs and even in a little Chinese in Spiddal. Our advice: don’t bother eating here.More
Managed to get a late lunch here as fully booked on both nights of our stay for dinner.
So pleased we did as it was a lovely meal overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
We both started with Garlic prawns on sour dough which were divine, one...of the nicest starters we’ve had. I had the plaice which again was superb. So fresh and tasty. My hubby had fish and chips.
Overall a very lovely lunch and would definitely go back when in the area and highly recommend.More
Beautiful fish restaurant on the pier. Fish cooked to perfection and the presentation was superb. I was here a few years ago and because it was so good then i rebooked this year when i was in the area. I was not disappointed as i...think it even surpassed my first experience.More
Loved it here, we hadn't booked but got offered a covered and heated outdoor table. What a great view over the islands. The staff were all lovely and the food excellent. We had prawns, chowder and sea bass and it was all beautiful. The bread...was also yummy 😋More
