We passed by Hakata Ippudo on our last day in Japan. It was 1:45 pm so we missed the lunch crowd and got seated. We each ordered combination of ramen and 10 bite sized dumplings. Ramen and broth were above average but the dumplings were exceptionally tasty. Gotta try the dumplings if you have not.

Holy moly. This ramen was so good. All based on pork broth but the one with minced meat is delicious. Gyozas are spectacular!

The noodle is a little bit too hard even I did not choose the firm type....well may be they did gave me the firm noodle. The soup base is so good that I finish it even I still have noodle I can not finish 😊

Some of the best ramen I've ever had. The staff was friendly, the food is very reasonable . Make sure to get some Gyoza with your ramen. This probably is no surprise, but (imho) it's better here than the Ippudo in Manhattan.

I was there last Thursday, 14 Dec, around 5pm in order to beat the peak hour. I have been there several times so ordering was done quickly. I finished mine before my wife and was busy uploading the pictures on Facebook to share this delightful meal. Upon my wife finishing hers, the staff immediately collected the bowls and things. I... After a long day in Akihabara we had to try our first ramen in Tokyo. After checking google and TripAdvisor we decided to try Ippudo. We had a great time and enjoyed every gyoza bite and every ramen sip. Delicious food and fast service!!! Thanks Ippundo!

The place itself is very nice, all in wood and fine arrangement of decoration. Very japanese feeling. Ramen are quite different from the traditional ramen, both for the noddles and the broth, but turn out to be very good. Gyozas are alwo worth it.

Our hostel recommended this place to us and we weren't disappointed! We had the basic traditional ramen each and 10 dumplings to share with a glass of beer each and the total was £23, very good value! the waitress knew a little English and the food arrived quickly and was hot. We added garlic and soy sauce ourselves from the... More

Prior to our visit to Japan, I wasn't a big fan of ramen. But after trying out some in Tokyo, I have come to like ramen. We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Ueno. We had the Akamaru Modern and the Ippudo Karaka ramen, as well as some gyoza. The Ippudo Karaka comes in different levels of spiciness. The... More

Whilst wondering around in Ueno, we were looking for some ramen and this one was fairly close by and good ratings... it didn't click until we were in there and saw the menu that we'd actually been to the Roppongi restaurant near the beginning of our trip! As with our first experience at an Ippudo restaurant, ramen was absolutely delicious,... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
